I'm no expert in these procedures but the guy hasn't fought at heavyweight so that doesn't make sense to me.

WBO has a rule where a title holder can move up in weight and become #1 contender for that WBO belt (if he exercises the option)

We've seen it a lot in the lower weight classes (Lomachenko and Crawford both exercised their options when moving up)

I've never seen it done at Heavyweight though.

Usyk was never convinced that he might perform at a top level in the HW division... that's is why he started his pro career at CW...

lol Usyk has been crushing fatties like Ruiz in the amateurs his whole career.

He's beaten fighters in the amateurs who have probably beaten Ruiz.

Ruiz holds no physical advantages over him. Usyk is the same height, has a longer reach but isn't a fat slob. Plus he can move well. It's debateable whether or not Ruiz punches harder.

Ruiz also won't have the handspeed advantage in that fight.

It'll be one of the easiest fights of Usyk's career.

When will people learn that winning in the amateurs doesn't translate to the pros at the elite level. Google biggest boxing hype jobs and its all amazing amateurs who never live up to the hype.

In all seriousness, usyk has skills but gassiev is not Andy ruiz. Usyk is like ggg. He ruled the weakest weight class and his fans think he's the messiah.

When he moves up and fights elite HW, then we can see how great he truly is.
