Is Nietes a win away from being #1 p4p?

Donnie Nietes is already a 4 division champ, a higher number than Crawford, Canelo and Lomachenko can claim. He hasn’t lost since 2004, a ridiculous stat, and is 42-1, a record that compares with what anyone has done in recent boxing history.

If Nietes fights and beats Juan Francisco Estrada, a top 10 p4p guy, he’ll have one of the best wins in all of boxing as well added to his resume.

At that point, Nietes has to be #1 pound for pound, right?

He would have bigger wins than Crawford, a prettier record than Lomachenko and have covered more divisions than Canelo.

    He would have my vote.

    Nietes is WAY OVERLOOKED

Ive got Gallo #8 rt now, Nietes right behind at #9. If he were to beat Gallo impressively, I would say he needs to be in the top 3, considering all his past resume. Bud (my current #3) hasnt done much lately. I have Loma #1 & Monster #2 - those dudes are solidly at the top.

But I dont think Nietes can beat Gallo impressively. Nietes is still good, but he is past his prime. Kudos for him for continuing to show his boxing class even though he's old and undersized.

Alot of folks downgraded Nietes bc of that draw w Palicte, who isnt on Nieties' level but was younger, bigger, stronger.

But that Ioka win - close, but deserved IMO - is looking better today. I wouldnt mind a rematch.

SupaFly continues to be one of boxing's best divisions. I was bummed when Chocolatito aged before our eyes & Monster left before really doing alot at 115, but the division somehow always ends up shining.

Nietes was robbed badly against Palicte. Doesn't deserve the downgrade, but also isn't even close to the #1 P4P spot.

Yeah, you don’t have to worry about this question, because he won’t beat Gallo...

I agree that Nietes should have been given the decision.

But he didnt look great in that fight -- he didnt look like a p4per. I downgraded him a bit even though I thought he should have won.

Lets be honest, Palicte isnt exactly the class of the division. Ioka showed what a good, p4p candidate should do against the likes of Palicte.

Estrada beats him but even if he beat JFE he wouldn’t be #1 IMO. He was lucky to get a draw against Palicte, and Ioka was an extremely close fight. Guys like Loma, Crawford and Inoue are dominating their opposition. Nietes isn’t. Nietes is undisputedly an elite fighter but a level below the likes of Loma, Crawford etc.

The lower divisions always remain strong because they are filled with technically skilled fighters.

I dunno why people don’t tune in, there are loads of good fights at Super Fly and below

I had Palicte winning, wasn’t a robbery by any means bro.

I like this question to be answered in actual fight... Nietes been hunting Estrada for so long...

                    Inoue #3 and Estrada (that schooled a top-5 P4P) in #8
