I’d agree if it was like the old days of one champion

Now there’s just too many belts, so it’s been somewhat diluted in what it means to be world champ. Boxing politics can make you world champ. Billy Joe Saunders just become a two weight world champ beating a stiff. What does it really mean?

It didn’t matter if Floyd had 0 belts, 1 belt or 4 belts. He was the best in his division regardless.

Fury is the only heavyweight that can claim he beat the very best in his division to become champ. That’s what matters.

AJ won his first world title because Hearn basically paid an awful fighter in Charles Martin to come and sell his belt. The guy won a vacant title via leg injury.

I’m not knocking anyones achievement but a man who goes and beats the real top champions is a champion. The rest are belt holders.

Since I was 8 years old watching HBO boxing after dark with my dad.

First Major fight I remember was Mike Tyson vs Evander holyfield, then after that it was The Golden boy, Fernando Vargas, Erik Morales, Naseem hamed, Marco antonio Barrera era.

When I became a real hardcore fan was around the time Pacquiao and Floyd took over, during the welterweight era where Paul williams, Shane Mosley, Margarito, Miguel Cotto were all in the same weight class and all active.

So you’re kinda a new fan. Kinda figured that.

A lot of guys have belts. Very few are the unquestioned top guy in the division. That’s the highest title in the world.

Fury was outclassing Wilder who only wanted to land a haymaker. Apparently Wilder's power has caught Fury's attention for him to make a remark like that.

It’s difficult to unify because of boxing politics, as we saw with AJ and Wilder not fighting. So because of all that nonsense, you get belts scattered all over the division. Same we we wont see Spence v Crawford or whatever anytime soon.

So when belts are scattered all over the divisions, then you have to go by the fighter that really beat the best and only Fury has that claim.

Nobody took Fury’s belts in the ring. He won them all off a proper champ too.

Ruiz got them off Joshua, who picked up easy vacant titles mostly. Or from people who won Fury’s belts in easy vacant fights, like Martin.

Fury is the last proper champion that can say he truly beat the man and took his belts. Ruiz has some diluted versions of Fury’s belts.

No mate, both Fury and AJ beat a decrepit old Wlad who should have retired in his mid 30's. Fury also took Steroids and feigned mental illness as a smokescreen and AJ took a beating of lil fat mexican. John McDermott also beat Fury but was cheated.

I'm glad Ruiz won that fight. I have nothing against Joshua. His win really opens up the division and he's going to get more fans into the heavyweight division. We will ses how real he is after the rematch. Right now Fury is getting some free publicity out of the situation.

I agree. Wilder vs Fury II is for the #1 spot in the division.

Sure Ruiz won, but I think Ruiz just lifted himself up to a 2nd Tier of HW's & Joshua got dropped to that 2nd Tier with him. Ruiz gots more to do to get to the Top Tier & Joshua needs to reverse his L to return to the Top Tier with them.
