Nobody took Fury’s belts in the ring. He won them all off a proper champ too.

Ruiz got them off Joshua, who picked up easy vacant titles mostly. Or from people who won Fury’s belts in easy vacant fights, like Martin.

Fury is the last proper champion that can say he truly beat the man and took his belts. Ruiz has some diluted versions of Fury’s belts.

It's real simple man. If you want to be the best, then you beat the best.

If you don't have any belts, you haven't beat the best yet.

If belts don't matter, why the hell do we have championship fights?

Fury vacated his belts after his layoff but by virtue he's still the lineal champ because nobody has beat him yet.

So Charles Martin was the best when he had a belt?

Ruiz didn’t beat the best though, and neither did Joshua.

There was no clear best between AJ, Fury and Wilder until they all fought each other (though we know Fury is the best).

Fury is the only fighter in the division that can claim he beat the very best fighter to win his titles. Ruiz, AJ, Parker, Wilder cannot say that they won any of their titles beating the confirmed best champion. Fury can.

Belts basically mean very little these days with all the belts floating around. What matters is the fighters who go in and beat the guys who are absolutely the best, only Fury did that.

              Deal with it.

Belts matter, why are you taking the prestige out of the entire boxing culture? Fighters chase belts because it means something.

It means something to be world champion, if you deny that then you're spitting on the entire culture.

When he had the belt he was somebody. He accomplished something, he had a claim.

His claim was taken away when Aj took his belt. That's how belts work.

I’d agree if it was like the old days of one champion

Now there’s just too many belts, so it’s been somewhat diluted in what it means to be world champ. Boxing politics can make you world champ. Billy Joe Saunders just become a two weight world champ beating a stiff. What does it really mean?

It didn’t matter if Floyd had 0 belts, 1 belt or 4 belts. He was the best in his division regardless.

Fury is the only heavyweight that can claim he beat the very best in his division to become champ. That’s what matters.

AJ won his first world title because Hearn basically paid an awful fighter in Charles Martin to come and sell his belt. The guy won a vacant title via leg injury.

I’m not knocking anyones achievement but a man who goes and beats the real top champions is a champion. The rest are belt holders.

In my mind it always was a two horse race. Joshua was just a poster boy getting all the attention, thinl everyone deep down knew he was a big stiff, ruiz was just the one to prove it. Anthony joshua still holds his number 1 position of worst double jab in history, amd probably will so for quite some time
