Better defense: Canelo Alvarez or Tyson Fury?

Both are really good with head and upper body movement given their stocky build and can be slick up close. Who would you say has better defense in your opinion? Whose defensive skills are you more impressed with the most?

Canelo has a better defence and considering he's about half Furys weight he also hits harder

I’d say canelo has the better defense and chin, he hasn’t been dropped like fury. He’s been hit by hard hitters but he goes with the punches better to neglect full force. That’s an attribute to better defense in my opinion.

Fury has a better defense simply because he has great footwork whereas canelo virtually has none. Canelo has better head movement and they have about the same upper body

Difference is fury is fighting at heavyweight where 80% of fights end in knockouts. Canelo isnt being hit by guys who weigh over 200lbs

Fury is better BUT, he seems to tire out a bit in later rounds and gets complacent

Well if your take it that route, I can say canelo doesn’t weigh 200 pounds to be able to absorb those punches and he took punches from triple g who is naturally bigger than canelo and also has a higher ko percentage than 80%... I still think canelo being able to take punches better than fury is an attribute to canelos defense

I never realised that being able to block punches with your face amounted to having defensive skills.

Canelo is a boxer puncher who sacrifices defence for offense.

Fury is a pure boxer who's offense comes from his defense.
