Probably yes, just because of the mexican fanbase.

The guy can’t even speak English. He has reached his peak and I don’t see how he can get bigger. What market is he gonna expand to?

I don’t even think he has that mainstream appeal tbh.

he's not making an effort. that's my point. he's still young so he should be speaking the language then. he can understand it perfectly and doesnt really need a translator but makes no attempt to try and speak the language. imagine if he pulls a GGG and start speaking in broken english. his respect level will go up.

That doesn't seem like a good enough reason. There are other fans beside Mexican fans. Floyd appealed to all fans, black, white , Mexican, Puerto rican, and others. Canelo will need to as well to surpass him in popularity.

Canelo doesn't speak English and lost to Floyd, so that likely affects his ability to pass him. I also don't know if Canelo will have rivals like ODH, Cotto and Manny to help elevate him to a global star like Floyd.

he is fairly young so if he keeps winning impressively against top tier talent he could become a global superstar.

I am speaking only in America. In Mexico I sense he is far more popular than any fighter has ever been and had the Chavez Jr. fight which was a major event in Mexico.

Ok.... So why doesn't he not even attempt to speak English?
