Doubt it, the sport isn't structured for it at this point for him. Mayweather caught a lull in the sport at the right time where it was all about guys like DLH being on their way out..tons of legends at the end of the road and not many ppl to be excited for and became the face of it. Canelo is stuck between generations right now at his height where a lot of focus is on the current gen and the outgoing big names of the sport.

No, it would of happened already if that was the case.

Floyd Mayweather after his win against Ricky Hatton, was bigger in terms of popularity than Canelo is right now.

What does Canelo do in order to rise to those levels? He has no other opponents to rise him to that level.

Think about it like this LADIV. If you speak English and Spanish and go on the hunt for poon your selection of women GREATLY increases. Same thing for Canelo, if its fans he wants than he will have to widen his base by appealing to others.

I just plain out think Canelo is happy where he is at though because if he wanted to appeal to English speaking fans he would.

If the theory about Mexicans being the number one supporters of boxing were true he would be.

What would need to happen first... the question to be answered first is...

Will Canelo ever surpass Julio Cesar Chavez as Mexico's GOAT? And will the Mexican fans acknowledge it/accept it?

Because he doesn't look Mexican. He has to speak the language to remind everyone that he is Mexican and not Irish.

I don't think so. I think he loses the third fight to GGG and that will take some of the shine off of him. Mayweather was a huge star and undefeated. I don't think Canelo will win all his future fights because he fights very strong opponents.

He doesnt promote himself well enough, speaking English, it gets to more potential fans, which would increase his popularity and.....he got BEAT head up by TBE. And he's considered to have lost about 3-4 times recently .....
