Well, real boxing fans did pay attention and before the fiasco last saturday, every boxing fan should have supported the tournament.

Two or three yearly tournaments involving mostly top boxers which ends in a final between two top guys?
Only boxing fans wouldnt care about this lmao.

In divisions nobody cares about. Cruiserweight is like the D-League basketball or minor league baseball compared to Heavyweight. It's not one of the original boxing weight classes. I'm also surprised the WBSS didn't go broke from the lack of attention.

Real boxing fans should be disgusted by this result as it was very unprofessional and amateur hour.

SKY sports announced before the fight in the area that both belt were withdrawn.


In the pre fight announcements Golwacki was never announced the champion.

There was no evidence of the belts being present after the fight.


Now the WBO says it was a Sanctioned title fight and Marris is the champ after the fight took place. This kind of outright Corruption is what is taking down boxing. Its seems clear the WBO is behind this entire matter along with the WBSS.

Byrd maybe the most Corrupt Ref, his wife Adaline, infamous for corrupt decisions as a Judge. Yet there both aloud to scheme on the same fight and the (WBO) post fight results puts there stamp of approval on this Corrupt scheme. Corruption at its best. This would be the end of the WBSS and WBO if this was ever investigated. Shady sham from beginning to end. Stinks. Surprised nobody investigated the Byrd family to this point. I am in favor of a NC and an immediate rematch...however this would seem to punish Dorticos as well and he had nada to do with the incident. No one will be happy with any decision made by those people in charge of this chitshow. It's too bad because all these guys are good boxers and put on good performances.

Should be ruled a no constest easy but I think the final should go on. But the winner of the final should be obligated to give glowacki a direct shot after.

I agree this is the best solution to a bad problem. Both fighters committed grossly flagrant fouls and it was very difficult to tell if Glowacki was faking it or not to try to get a DQ.

NC the fight, have the final, make Glowacki the mandatory challenger to the eventual victor. Either that or award the belts to Dorticos, set up an immediate rematch between Briedis/Glowacki and the winner fights Dorticos.

Just to show you how tricky and unregulated this whole charade is. I read an article hours after the fight explaining the situation, as I stated. I read an article on WBN this morning explaining the WBO spoke out after the bout and stated the title was on the line and Bredis was the champ. Could be a delay on Boxrec part or ? The fact nobody seems to know and its two days after the fact tells me there are no rules or regulation being followed.

One more odd thing I noticed on Boxrec , the Latvian Boxing Federation has suspended Glowacki till 7-13-2019

Byrd's been a terrible ref for a while. Something is fundamentally wrong with a sport that allows a 74 year old with back problems to continue working.

not the best day for Byrd. guy was horrible, not saying he needs to loose his job , but definitely a suspension.
