Is the weight gap from light heavyweight to cruiser insane?

I think the whole system needs an overhaul.
Keep the glamour weight classes and fit in other weight classes to suit with at least 2 less divisions.

You could easily abolish over 50% of midget divisions, the only reason they exist is to effectively market manlets by telling us they are "15 weight world champions" when in reality they have moved up 5 pounds

that exact matchup would still happen under the conditions I suggested

make it 240, or 250..... something like that
250 would be ok..... say, like this.....

        168-175... light-heavyweight
        175-190... cruiserweight
        190-250... heavyweight
        250+....... super-heavyweight

How many talented super heavyweights are there though? Six? It’s mostly obese club fighters and such.

And any of those guys over 250 is still beatable. Hell, Wilder just one punch KO’d a 255 pound Breazeale while weighing 220 pounds.

Getting rid of 168 is the easiest solution IMO

The 7lb jump from SMW to LHW is the biggest anomaly in boxing weight divisions, other than the 3lb jump between midget divisions but more bizarre than the 25 lb jump from LHW to CW.

168 should be removed, it just weakens the MW and LHW divs.

At least the 3lb and 4lb jumps make sense because they’re guys that are under 126lbs. 4 pounds to those guys is massive.

But 160-175-200 makes sense IMO, because it’s similar jumps for bigger men.

Light heavyweight should be 180lbs, that sorts everything.

it doesn't matter what Wilder did, nobody else punches like him

he is an exception..... because his punching power is exceptional

which is why I suggested that we cannot use David Haye as a benchmark for beating Valuev

also, Breazeale could have made 250 if there was a weight restriction

they will never remove 168..... 160-175 is a near impossible jump

it does not matter that Hopkins did it..... because he is another exception, what with him being exceptional and all that

fair point that the super-heavyweight division would not be stacked..... we would not want to see meaningless/regurgitated fights..... maybe 240 is a better limit..... not sure tbh, just floating ideas

                  tricky

The reason why the cruiserweight division was bumped up to 200 pounds is because amateurs cruiserweights had no place to go as many sweat down to 200 and would be dead at 190.

If there is a new division to be created it should be a 201 to 225 or so as many tweener types have no chance against modern 240+ heavyweights. Wilder hasn't been tagged yet on the chin, when it happens he will get violently ko'd.
