WTF!! Just watched Briedis-Glowacki.

That was absolutely DISGRACEFUL!

One of the worst refereeing performances I have ever seen.

Briedis blatantly and deliberately elbows Glowacki in clear sight of the referee. The referee does nothing and Glowacki is given no time to recover. This was a blatant DQ IMO.

Briedis then drops Glowacki well after the bell has clearly rung. The referee does nothing, doesn’t try and separate them at the bell and Glowacki is given no additional time to recover.

Glowacki inevitably gets stopped in the next round.

That was an abhorrent refereeing performance, he had no control of the fight and this boxing match became a ungoverned brawl. This should be ruled a NC at the very least. Questions also need to be asked about Robert Byrd and the commission, is he capable of controlling the action with 200+ lb fighters? Evidently not.

Nah I’m not, but a rabbit punch is nothing compared to a clean elbow.

A rabbit punch, it’s a illegal but it happens regularly. What Briedis did in response was shocking IMO.

About as egregious an elbow as I recall, and not really mitigated much by the fact that it was a response to a clearly deliberate rabbit punch. That said I still hold that 2pts and recovery time would have been the appropriate response from Byrd.

And yeah. Byrd clearly shouldn't be reffing at this (or possibly any) level any more.

Byrd needs to retire and take his wife with him. That was a disgraceful performance. It was like something out of a cartoon, an entire crowd screaming and gesturing at an oblivious old man who had no clue what was going on.

Let them fight for an eternity after the bell rings and is RINGING for half of that time. Byrd then gives an eight count to Glowacki (as the bell is still ringing) and then waives the fight off, disqualifying Glowacki when his corner entered the ring to stop the assault and let the oblivious old man know that the round ended yesterday.

They happen often but usually they are borderline, this one was right at the back of the head and clearly intentional. That’s just as bad as an elbow. Dude could’ve been permanently brain damaged from an illegal and intentional punch in an instant.

I was gonna create this post dedicated to the sham that is Robert Byrd the guy is completely incompetent! How can you not hear the dang bell? Both fighters hear it, but you have to protect yourself at all times it is the referees job to separate them up at end of rounds.

This isn't the first time Byrd has shown how awful he is at doing his job. People will play fanboy to this issue, but he allowed Ward to lowblow TKO Kovalev this is something which some people forget because of bias. Simply put this idiot should not have a job after this he is a disgrace to the sport.

Tit for tat, you don't punch someone at the back of the head or lowblow them etc without expecting retaliation. Glowacki should have took full 5 minutes and recovered he put on brave face instead and he paid for it.
