I was gonna create this post dedicated to the sham that is Robert Byrd the guy is completely incompetent! How can you not hear the dang bell? Both fighters hear it, but you have to protect yourself at all times it is the referees job to separate them up at end of rounds.

This isn't the first time Byrd has shown how awful he is at doing his job. People will play fanboy to this issue, but he allowed Ward to lowblow TKO Kovalev this is something which some people forget because of bias. Simply put this idiot should not have a job after this he is a disgrace to the sport.

They happen often but usually they are borderline, this one was right at the back of the head and clearly intentional. That’s just as bad as an elbow. Dude could’ve been permanently brain damaged from an illegal and intentional punch in an instant.

Nah the elbow was far worse. That rabbit punch didn’t even land clean. Plus it’s with a padded glove as opposed to an exposed elbow.
On top of that, if you rewatch it, Glowacki throws that shot before Byrd has shouted “stop”, so Briedis was still actively trying to defend himself, Briedis throws that elbow after the referee has called stop, and Glowacki is not defending himself.

Byrd needs to retire and take his wife with him. That was a disgraceful performance. It was like something out of a cartoon, an entire crowd screaming and gesturing at an oblivious old man who had no clue what was going on.

Let them fight for an eternity after the bell rings and is RINGING for half of that time. Byrd then gives an eight count to Glowacki (as the bell is still ringing) and then waives the fight off, disqualifying Glowacki when his corner entered the ring to stop the assault and let the oblivious old man know that the round ended yesterday.

Couldn’t agree more: rabbit punches happen in some capacity in most boxing matches period, but elbows are ****ing unheard of.

100% should be changed to a NC and a rematch ordered.
