From a PPV perspective, I think fighting Tony is a lose-lose proposition. If Floyd loses, he falls hard in the eyes of the general public. If he wins, he gets little credit since the general public hasn't really heard of Tony.

The $8 million offer is alot on its own, but its chump change compared to what he could make with a big PPV fight with Mosley or DLH or anyone else with a better pedigree (and fanbase) than Margarito.

His critics can call him Fraud, but Floyd's camp knows a much bigger payday than $8 million is in his future if he plays his cards right.

Even a fight with Spinks would probably do very well in Nov. They would probably market the PPV to the urban crowd like they did with the PBF-Judah fight. That one brought in 350,000 buys. It would have done infinitely better if Judah hadn't loss to Baldomir. With Spinks coming off a win and holding a belt, and Floyd challenging for yet another title in a 5th weight division, it would be very easy to market and promote.

The same can't really be said for Margarito. I guess they could show him destroying Cintron but I'm pretty sure the general public would only pay attention to the fact that there's a boxer named Kermit. I'm not sure what other part of Tony they could market...that's he's a really big welter?

That's why Arum is throwing the $8 million figure around. He's basically buying what he can't sell on his own with Tony, name recognition. Margarito is just not marketable at this point. That's not to say he doesn't deserve a big fight this year, but the numbers don't really add up with Tony. And boxing is all about the numbers.
