Well, another consideration is that the U.S. is much larger than most countries by land mass.

So Deontay Wilder, for instance, travels 2,000 miles from his home to fight in LA and 1,000 to fight in New York.

    That is traveling.

By comparison, a fighter from London would travel 1,500 miles to Moscow and 2,000 to Cairo. To Manchester or Wales is a couple of hundred and to Glasgow is 400.

It doesn't come down to the miles you travel, but due to being in different surroundings with a home opponent. It isn't worse if you travelled 2,000 miles to someone travelling 400 miles. How could the miles you've travelled even come into it?

Los Angeles is as different from New York as some Euro countries are. It is a different environment.

The thread was about U.S. fighters not wanting to travel. Most of them travel farther in a few years than most UK fighters travel in their entire careers.

USA, home of the A side......Traveling sucks. Especially to different countries, for tax reasons alone.

Good post & great point. Never even thought of this, but yea the US is a big ass place.

Its not like the whole country is all home just cuz you are from the US. Sh^t going to some states is like visiting a whole different country.

Because they don’t need to USA is where it’s at plain n simple.

That’s why stars like Roy Jones, De la Hoya, Floyd etc didn’t ever have to.

                      Because of Home Advantage

They only need to win say 4 rounds and they will at least get a draw, it takes a heap of pressure off. Think about it, they need to win 4 rounds, the opponent needs to win 9.

If they are a complete nobody or they are fighting a shot opponent then you'll occasionally see them leave the safety of the US, But otherwise they aint giving up that home advantage.
