      No, it's you are.
“I am happy. A year ago I wanted to leave boxing. I had no money, but I did not want to live on the street,” Ruiz said of his situation.

andy ruiz is one of my favorite fighters, but why does he say he's a mexican champion? he's not. he's an american born and raised.

Exactly, what makes Marco Antonio Barrera more Mexican than other Mexican fighters?

As a boxing fan, I don't care where he is from. What matters is what he is going thru right now. Very happy to see someone achieved what he has. WAR BOXING!

Just a quaint aspect of American culture where people identify with their ancestry more strongly than in other cultures (being largely a nation of people who immigrated from elsewhere).

Eg Italian Anerican, African American, Irish (even if last 3 generations born in US). The same strength of identification with heritage not seen elsewhere, so might seem odd to non Americans, but then some of the things the Brits do seems odd to others, and lets not get started on the Japanese......

A million turns into 500,000 after taxes and expenses that plus the fact that after that he had to buy himself out of his top rank contract and didn't fight for a while with 5 kids in California yeah man you don't know what your talking about.

This is nothing new, he was broke and getting short changed under Bob Arum and Top Rank, and once he signed with AL Haymon he started getting paid well and treated better and looked out for.

Same with Manny Pacquiao, Arum said good luck to
Haymon trying to pay off Pacmans twenty million tax debt, he cant step foot in the country, then pacman arrives in the usa for the broner presser and haymon paid off his taxes so he could walk freely

Arum never looked out for manny and actually paid him less than the media reported. Haymon is helping pacman by bringing filipino boxers over to fight on pbc prelims in the states giving them exposure and arum never gave a crap about pacs future after boxing

Happy for the guy. Hopefully he gets at least 10 million+ for his next fight.
