As far as Jermall's lackluster performance against Korobov, I'm still on the fence about it. I might pick both Canelo and Golovkin to beat him but the only time we've seen Charlo look less than stellar was against lefties. Matvey was a late replacement as well so who knows.....
My sense was that both sides understood that fighting each other wasn't gonna land 'em the Canelo fight anyway, kinda risky for both - not worth much money for GGG and no titles for Jermall if he won - considerable chance of taking an L for either and at the end of it no guarantee at a title shot, whatever the WBC claimed about it being for the mando slot. From here on in Canelo ain't gonna be mandated to fight anyone he ain't already greenlit is my guess... least not by the WBA or WBC.

Mmmm. Like you I still ain't sure on Jermall - guess you got a point about the lefties and I can cut him some slack over the Korobov performance - Matvey's one of the best pure boxers around he just got bad stamina and a worse chin - but then it's not like he got a great list of orthodox fighters on his resume either however good the J-Rock win looks in hindsight. Dude's quick for sure, an intuitive fighter, but my sense is that he's a level below both Golovkin and Canelo in both ring IQ and as a technician.

Prior to that Charlo was the #1 contender for the title at that time held by Golovkin. When he lost common sense would say that it would now be Canelo. However Charlo and Golovkin were ordered to fight each other to determine who would be #1. I'm a Golovkin fan but Charlo got screwed over and Canelo gets to avoid one of the two guys depending who wins. If Golovkin beats Charlo but it's a very close grueling fight Charlo will possibly be off the table as far as Canelo is concerned for a future fight because he's too damned dangerous. In other words he will lose out on a massive payday. it's not likely Golovkin will fight Charlo because he wants a Sept. rematch with Canelo.

Bruh Golovkin can get a Canelo fight anytime he wants. The sanctioning bodies cant tell him what to do. If you call this ducking then Fury also ducked Whyte. Never seen Charlo upset that Golovkin didn't act according to the WBC plans. He doesn't have to solve Canelo's problems
