My sense was that both sides understood that fighting each other wasn't gonna land 'em the Canelo fight anyway, kinda risky for both - not worth much money for GGG and no titles for Jermall if he won - considerable chance of taking an L for either and at the end of it no guarantee at a title shot, whatever the WBC claimed about it being for the mando slot. From here on in Canelo ain't gonna be mandated to fight anyone he ain't already greenlit is my guess... least not by the WBA or WBC.
Mmmm. Like you I still ain't sure on Jermall - guess you got a point about the lefties and I can cut him some slack over the Korobov performance - Matvey's one of the best pure boxers around he just got bad stamina and a worse chin - but then it's not like he got a great list of orthodox fighters on his resume either however good the J-Rock win looks in hindsight. Dude's quick for sure, an intuitive fighter, but my sense is that he's a level below both Golovkin and Canelo in both ring IQ and as a technician.
