GGG was mandated to fight Jacobs. This was when he was still doing his all the belts act and was forced to fight him. After that fight he was no longer interested in belts (he never really was tbh) and didnt follow up with the BJS fight for all the belts, turned down the mandatory with Charlo. Refused to fight his mandatory, Dervy, and instead fought Vanes and then got stripped. Didn't want the WBO mandatory with Andrade.
Perhaps the best example of the over the top criticism for GGG is not giving him full credit for the Jacobs situation...where he gave him more money than he was mandated to just to make the fight.

Like love him or hate him he should get props for that...but for many unfortunately everything he does is bad regardless of the actual events.

That example with Jacobs is perfect example of why a lot of criticism of GGG falls flat...people can't give credit where it is clearly due so if they ever actually have a valid negative point about him it falls flat...boy who cried wolf basically.

My point with the Jacob's fight is GGG is not going to take tough fights unless he's forced to. We saw his opponent selection before Jacobs and his opponent selection post Jacob's. Swerved the BJS fight that was already agreed to before the Jacob's fight and wont fight anybody worth a damn but Canelo for good money.

golovkin chased fights at 168 with froch and Chavez and had his team saying theyd fight at 168 almost every other week with some of them insisiting it would be his "best weight"

simple, obvious, difference....but easily glossed over by the golovkin excuse makers
I figured the resident GGG hater would chime in here. Did GGG knock up your sister and run off on her or something? I don't get all this devotion to GGG bashing from guys like you and MCC. One would think he enters the ring with a swastika and white hood on his head the way some of you hate on the guy. I'm not a big fan of his, but damn, there are other fighters worthy of more bashing than GGG. What's odd is that the same GGG haters are the ones who defend a guy like Wilder to the death. They defend the TBE ducker and dirty Ward with every ounce of their pride, but hate on certain fighters for only one reason I can think of, and it has nothing to do with his boxing or resume. Same crowd that hates on Loma too. Coincidence?

if you were around boxing boards at the time the consensus from golovkin fans was this

"who does Jacobs think he is to ask for more money? lol....this the same guy that pirog murdered? got dropped by friggin Sergio mora? hahahah...Jacobs is ducking over money!"

that's why golovkin received criticism ....because after the fight people were saying Jacobs almost a cruiserweight and that's why golovkin didn't look dominant......they were saying that Jacobs was great now too.....and that it was a great win....when they were dissing him hard when they thought he was ducking

when people criticize a guy then turn around and make him out to be a tremendous win it just looks funny

golovkin fans never want to admit anything or a point a finger in his direction for anything...yet they will go out of their way to bash more accomplished fighters on the internet(and I'm not talking about Jacobs)

Prove it. Show me the details and articles of where HE turned down all 4. You don't understand boxing at all.

He fought Jacobs on the 18th and then the first Canelo fight was announced on May 6th.

So he never got back to Saunders......in order to make the biggest fight in boxing.

                  What exactly is your point?

the lara fight was there and it made sense....but it didn't for golovkin and hbo because lara was known as tricky and a spoiler and hbo wanted a superstar to build so they matched him with ko's waiting to happen

maybe lara would have been easy work too....but that doesn't mean it shouldn't have happened

he absolutely did NOT beat canelo in the 2nd fight...furthest thing from it...if you think he clearly won we cant continue this, or any, further conversations because we have completely different views on the sport....

fact is when he finally stepped up he got a draw, a loss and a razor close win over Jacobs....

I'm sorry but beating Curtis stevens means nothing to me....neither did beating kell brook in what looked like a circus side show where brook was barely beat up and even acted surprised his team stopped it.......geale and murray are ok at best....nothing legendary.....when he had a chance to be legendary he was basically good to ok....
Lara is my 2nd favorite fighter of this generation so I would never slight him. Think GGG's activity and Lara's tendency to take some rounds off would have favored GGG. But I would have liked to see that one. I stand by my earlier comment though that if GGG beat him, instead of giving GGG credit, some would just cast Lara aside and find a new fighter that GGG should have fought and was avoiding. People do that all the time...not just with GGG but with any fighter they don't like.

Re the Canelo and Jacobs fights - all I can say is if GGG fought their fights and they fought his...I would say they clearly beat GGG. Canelo and Jacobs obviously had good moments. But boxing is scored by punches landed...and when you are outstanding your opponent in 4/5 rounds...I mean those types of fights are almost always pretty straightforward to score...and I feel that was the case here.

Not really hyping up the Brook win but he did break his face. It was a pretty bad beating.

Can't say that GGG ever stopped a HOFer in his prime. But a HOFer rarely gets stopped in his prime. And I think 15 or so dominant KO wins against good or very good fighters is really impressive...hard to never have a hiccup in that run.

When you outland your opponents in 27/33 rounds and people still find it hard to give you any credit for those fights...I mean I think that says it all.

If GGG got outlanded like that in those fights people would say he lost 10-2 in all 3 fights lol.

He wasn’t forced to fight Jacobs, he could have vacated his title. He took the fight instead.

His opponent selection before Jacobs was all top 10 middleweights. His opponent selection after Jacobs includes two fights with a top 3 p4p fighter LOL.
