It was just one of those nights where the favourite just was not up for it and the underdog was hungry as hell, it happens sometimes. Sometimes it's down to a poor camp, sometimes underestimating what's in front of you, sometimes overlooking due to the next challenge. Personally; I think the timing of the 2 Wilder announcements during fight week just ****** all of the enthusiasm out of Joshua and on fight night he was thinking, "What's the point in all of this"?
I see the rematch going the way of Lewis-Rahman II, but wouldn't be hugely surprised if it's repeat either; as bad as Joshua was on the night, if Ruiz can fight like HE did that night every time then the face of the division could be a like-able, chubby, Mexican bloke for a while.

Good article but how many HW's would have taken those shots by AJ when he was trying to K.O someone ? Not wilder nor fury that's for sure.

Style wise to trouble AJ one has to be another counter aggressive puncher ,and theres no one currently other then Ruiz that fits it , other then Ortiz who would be finding Joshua right hands bc hes a southpaw ( go see Martin ) !

Joshua will win the rematch hes the better fighter ,only being non urgent will see the same result and that wont happen .

No mention of the Snickers bar that was denied to Ruiz by MSG? A challenger needs to be hungry to take on a champion, but Ruiz was absolutely starving. He was hangry as hell.

Ever heard the old saying about English autos? Every part that falls off this car is guaranteed to be made with the best British craftsmanship. Well AJ was built in the Hearn robot factory, home town advantage plus, always garaged, nicks and scratches covered over. The first road trip, and the thing fell apart. The spit and glue refs and judges that held it together stayed home. All of Hearns scheming and conniving couldn't hide the defects. Andy beat the brakes off of AJ, no excuse necessary.

Imo the best quality that Ruiz showed was the capacity of absorbing ko punches and react to those recklessly. Probably Wilder's punches are harder than aj's but even then I guess he could counter and win with the much better style he has over wilder.

The only boxer who can outbox him is Fury, who's not only much taller but seriously the best technician in today's hw division.

I don't know about Fury, but my inkling is that Wilder would knock out Ruiz quite violently.

Ali fights were staged so don’t count them.

I'm a Wilder fan obviously, but I agree. Ruiz might be able to hang for 8, 9, 10 rounds, but at some point Wilder is going to connect. Ruiz has very good head movement, but if Wilder is more fundamental and disciplined than he was against Fury... it would only be a matter of time. We will see in future fights, but I think/hope Wilder learned a lot from being on the big stage with Fury. He was loading up on every punch and telegraphing his intentions. If he can learn from that, calm down, and KO Fury in the rematch, he would be the champ of the heavyweights.
