Comments Thread For: Usyk Hopes There is WBSS Tournament For Heavyweights

A week out from the Season 2 Cruiserweight Semi-Finals, Season 1 champ Aleksandr Usyk can't pick a clear favourite in Riga and hopes for a WBSS tournament in his new division. Usyk came, fought and took it all in Season 1 of the World Boxing Super Series. He became the first winner of the Ali Trophy after outpointing Murat Gassiev in the Final on July 21, the first undisputed world cruiserweight champion, the consensus 2018 Fighter of the year. All achieved through competing in best vs best format of the WBSS.

Man fight someone at Heavyweight first before you start talking about Wbss. Keep hearing how he could beat Joshua Wilder Whyte Fury etc but no 1 has even seen him fight at Heavyweight. I think he should’ve stayed where he was at

Would love to see it. You can exclude Wilder, Fury, Joshua, Ruiz and Ortiz - their fights are lined up and they probably earn more than the tournament could offer moving forward.

Would think any 8 from Parker, Whyte, Joyce, Yoka, Gorman or Dubois, Usyk, Efe, Hunter, Zheng, Hrigovic, Dychko, Chisora, Bakole, Allen and Kownacki, Kuzmin would make for a brilliant tournament.

For good reason: The HWs suck!

He's by default the most skilled fighter at HW just by moving to the weight class.
