They aren't ducking - they're just acting coy so they can squeeze DAZN. If they were jumping up and down begging for the third match, DAZN would know it didn't need to offer anything to get it.

DLH needs to act like he doesn't want it - '3G needs a belt', or 'we've got different plans 168/175' to have DAZN know they need to stump up some decent cash.

And lets be doubly emphatically clear, Canelo doesn't need another 40m dollars.

Whether he wants it or not though, that is the question.

Canelo can make money fighting anyone. He's the biggest star in the sport now.

DAZN will pay an unknown amount to have Canelo/Golovkin III, and suspect its a big number. I suspect no such payment for any other opponent (or a significantly lower one).

DAZN already has Canelo on contract for his fights, only way DAZN can get what they want (Golovkin) is to turn to their 'incentives and bonuses' clause, and that's what DLH is trying to max out.

Dude can't even crack 200k ppvs on his own and there's no buzz around his upcoming garbage mismatch.
Can only guess how the DAZN deals work, but part of Golovkin's 100m deal is a a 30m purse if he fights Canelo a third time.

Don't know if that 30m is part of the 100m such that he only gets 70m without Canelo, but one would have to figure that Canelo's 365m deal with DAZN would be structured similarly and would include a stated amount for a Golovkin fight that Canelo doesn't get unless it happens - and also got to figure that amount would be higher than Golovkin's 30m (possibly significantly more).

Plus the 'bonuses and incentives' on top - Canelo might be giving up a lot of money by not fighting Golovkin, and by extension, DLH would be giving up a lot.

But as we know, DLH operates on an honour system and would not be distracted by money.

DAZN is not in the best bargaining position now. Joshua's loss to Ruiz leaves Al Haymon and Bob Arum with the heavyweight belts and DAZN with Canelo as their only cash cow. They would be short sighted to try to strong arm Canelo to fight Golovkin in Canelo insists on fighting to unify the middleweight division. Canelo is the future; GGG is the past. The sooner whinny Golovkin exists the scene, the sooner boxing can move forward.

I feel like Canelo and team aren't keen on making the trilogy right away. And in all honesty, they can milk it and go another route. BUT, you have to ask yourself how much of an influence does DAZN have on match-making? They have nearly half a billion dollars invested in both fighters for the next five years and they obviously want a return on their investment.

In regards to Joshua vs Ruiz happening, Eddie Hearn said, "They wanted a credible fighter." Who's "they?" I think DAZN has a bigger influence on match-making than what we think and more than the promoters will probably want. DAZN has so much money invested in these fighters and promotions that have you to believe they have a say in what fights happen. In all honesty, DAZN wants Canelo vs GGG 3 ASAP. It's the biggest money making fight from last year and has brought in over a million buys each time they did it. Canelo fighting GGG equals a business success. So although Canelo and team may not want it next, DAZN may want it next.

Well of course he can "make money" fighting anyone. It's like an A-list movie star making money taking a small independent film role. But Canelo didn't even sell out his fight against Jacobs, while simultaneously taking a massive drop since the rematch. It's possible because of the switch to DAZN so I'll cut some slack on that. I'm no Joshia fan, but at least he packed more of MSG than Canelo did in Vegas.
