Obviously AJ is going to knock that little chubby guy out cold in the rematch.

But then it’ll be 1-1, so won’t there be a third fight and hence delaying AJ vs wilder even further???

Wilder could very well end up in a trilogy with Ortiz and iirc he already announced his next two fights anyway.

      Yes, but not right away.

Assuming Wilder doesn't want the unification, I assume AJ would then be obligated to fight Usyk and Pulev before a third Ruiz fight.

Wilder will it at minimum do a rematch with Fury if he beats him and he still has to get through Ortiz and beat him twice.

If AJ wins he will have mandatories before he can rematch Ruiz. Forget Joshua vs Wilder it won't happen until 2022 if it does happen but I don't see it happening anymore.

          No need for trilogy

Ruiz ko’s Joshua even harder than the first time

Regardless of the outcome in the rematch there’s no trilogy and there shouldn’t be one

If AJ beats Ruiz then the L was a blip and his W rectified the L he took. Hes still the Divisions cash cow / gets his straps back and back in the mix with Fury / Wikder as 1 of the 3 kings at HW. No need for a rubber match with Ruiz when fornthe most part you get everything back pre Ruiz fights

If AJ takes the L it’s back to the drawing board and no one especially Matchroom is going to want him to have a 3rd fight and take 3 Ls in a row against a HW most considered 2nd tier. 3 Ls in a row to Ruiz you might as well stick a fork in AJs career at that point. Because even with 2 Ls to Ruiz there’s still big $ fights for AJ / 3 Ls not so much

That's not obvious, and it depends on what sort of fight it is. If its a spectacular close fight that AJ wins, then yes a rematch is called for. If he blows Ruiz completely out, or scores a wide UD, then we can write it off as a fluke that Ruiz beat him, and therefore no need for a 3rd fight.

Should be a rubber match, yes. Probably contingent on Joshua winning clearly and cleanly outside of the UK.

I always believe there should be trilogies if it is 1-1 but it would all depend on what Ruiz does after that fight. If he is just a one hit wonder like Douglas, McCall and Rahman, then there probably will not be a trilogy.

Rahman wasn't really a one hit wonder. After the Lewis rematch Rahman challenged for the WBA interim title (2003), won the WBC title (2005-2006), challenged for the IBF/WBO/IBO titles (2008), and then challenged for the WBA Regular title (2012).

Ruiz would be extremely lucky to have a career as successful as Rahman's was after he lost the unified lineal title back to Lewis.
