I remember him talking about this after beating Kovalev in the rematch. Now I'm thinking he was more serious than I thought at the time. Maybe the things Ruiz exposed is what they were talking about.

If he was serious, he would’ve done it. He was already in talks about fighting Bellew and then Joshua. He knew the money available but chose not to.

Great fighter Ward but it’s easy to say that now. The truth is he retired when the LHW division was hotting up behind him. So not sure he would’ve really gone up to heavyweight.

Joshua would smash Ward to little bits.

I don't think he seriously planned to go through with it, but I think he saw the weaknesses and knew he could target them. Probably to such an extent that he couldn't help but talk about it. Ward is around the same height as Ruiz.
Would have been a joy to watch.

Mouths, I like Ward but he is just stereotyping African American boxers here. Talk, talk but wouldn’t walk the walk. He is right doe with “seeing” those things about Joshua. Anyone with any boxing brain could see it. It didn’t take Ruiz knocking him out to show it to certain people.
