That doesn’t mean they are good fights. If it wasn’t for Eastern barthemely the Trout gausha would be the worst fight of the year.

Who cares about Redkach. Like I said of all these guys were weeded it we would get better fights. We don’t need to ever see them again.
Yes, also nothing wrong with Easter Jr vs Barthelemy. What was wrong with it? All you can go off is the match up on paper. What happens in the ring is a crap shoot. Was that not also an evenly matched fight?

And we don't need to see them again? Huh? Why not? Trout didn't do anything against the Charlo bros or against Hurd to show that he is done and that he doesn't deserve any more fights. Then for Gausha this was the perfect fight to show he can get another shot at a title or be in a fight against one of the top 154 pounders.

And good luck "weeding" all these fighters. You can't just have them just stop fighting when they want to fight and can still compete at a certain level.

on paper we knew trout gausha and barthemely Easter would suck.

Doesn’t matter if they are evenly matched or not. We know Rances is a very boring fighter. We never need to see him again. Easter can get a pass. Rances is terrible so it’s no surprise the fight ****** like all his fights. Horrible matchmaking.

Trout has been in plenty of boring fights. He needs an offensive fighter like Hurd to make a decent fight. Gausha aint that fighter. It was easy to see that fight would be terrible. Just bad matchmaking. It’s not about even on paper. U need to take styles into account as well.

AJ Ruiz was a mismatch on paper yet their styles meshed Perfectly.

You're not going to just match these opponents up perfectly to make the fights entertaining. And these types of crossroads are fine. You can't just ignore a fighter just because they don't have the most appealing style. I'm more interested in evenly matched fights and then see what happens.

If it was just about "exciting," then you would damn near never see Rigo/Lara/etc on TV. Sure you want them to make for the best TV friendly fights, but you aren't always going to get that. Doesn't mean you shelf the fighter. These kind of elimination fights are good of fighters of similar level. Now, both those fights ended in draws, but ideally you would like to see one clearly emerge over the other.

For a brief moment I was like "wait Canelo and Lara are having a rematch on PBC?!"

But yeah the Lara fight will be a blowout and Quillen vs Truax will probably be sloppy and stuff.

you don’t make those dull fights main events. And when you know the fight will suck you try to match them differently. We’ve seen Lara with Angulo, Hurd and Castaño. Those aren’t boring. There’s an art to matchmaking and pbc clearly doesn’t have it.

Tv execs want exciting fights. Not Trout gausha and Barthelemy Easter with terrible ratings. If people don’t watch best believe u can put them on the shelf. It’s all about supply and demand. If there’s no demand guys pay needs to get cut and put on smaller networks.

I hope I never see Barthelemy Devon Alexander Arreola and gausha again. What would I be missing out on? Nothing.

Guys like trout Lara Easter need the right dance partner. That’s on the matchmaker. Lara could fight someone else and make a good fight. Ramon alvarez can’t best a washed up fat Brandon rios. Trout has better matchups available too

Yeah its a crap card. They have a lot of other guys they could match Lara with.

I'm sorry but I'm starting to think people just enjoy 1) Complaining about boxing more than discussing boxing, or 2) Sounding elitist and bashing casual fans.

I agree 100%, it seems more and more difficult for boxing fans to get the fights they want and for champions to fight each other, etc. But every card and every fight is not going to be a blockbuster. There are much worse cards happening on a regular basis than the 8/31 PBC card with "named" fighters on it. You need not look much farther than this weekend. Can you name anyone else on the card with GGG/Steve Rolls ? That's the only 12 rounder scheduled.

I just think it's all relative and people want to find something to complain about. It's a common theme on this forum. If you want to find negativity, there's plenty of it out there. There's plenty of good too. It's all about perspective and which attitude we choose to feed.
Also it's easy to criticize with 20/20 hindsight vision. A lot guys said they weren't even going to watch Joshua/Ruiz. Now they can't stop talking about it.

Look I get that people pay money for subscriptions, apps, TV channels, etc. and deserve a decent product or have a right to be disgruntled when not satisfied. I just think society in general likes to complain and I'd also be curious to know how many are paying customers, that do complain.
Like you said, some fights between a #4, #5 or #3 against #4 are almost unavoidable and evenly matched. At least they are top 10-12 contenders. What are Ali Akhmedov, Marcus McDaniel, and Steve Rolls ranked ? I know that's DAZN, but same idea. I seriously doubt networks and promoters are purposely trying to put on boring fight nights for the paying public. Guys are fighting who they fight. There was a time before streaming when it was just "Friday Night Fights" and nothing else. Truth is, despite its obscurity and political b/s, boxing has come a good ways.
                Peace.

Again, you're not going to be able to match these guys in every fight with a fighter that will make them look good. Doesn't mean these fights don't deserve to happen.

What's worse is when you get a dud of a fight in a massive mismatch. What are the chances Fury vs Schwarz is exciting? Now that has a chance to be a complete borefest with one guy much superior than the other.

The Truax/Quillin fight may or may not end up delivering, but to say the first fight was terrible....when it barely lasted two rounds? That's questionable at best. The fight didn't even get a chance to get started before it ended.

Do you have 2 arms? 2 legs??can you train???i am assuming that you could train to.
My point? Anyone can train and fight hard fight to defend themselves..why should we clamour for things that most of us can do? If anyone here trains for 8 weeks straight after years of being in the gym they could become C level fighters, but there are a few in division that are truly gifted, the ones that most people could never be like, and these guys are not fighting each other, so we are calling a spade a spade...truth is boxing is full of bums...or just average guys
