I like English people, it's the English media I can't stand as such I like to see English sporting failures. I'm glad I wasn't around in 1966Comment

**** thread from a **** poster. Our talent pool is less than half the size of the USA's and Mexico's. We should be measured against the likes of Japan, not against those two. USA-UK only a "rivalry" because we both speak English and like to talk *****, not because it's actually competitive
And it's not fair to compare hardcore American boxing fans against casual British fans either. Hardcore British fans follow boxers from all over the place too. I'm sure I watch just as much boxing as you do
I think overall UK fans are more educated when you're comparing hard-core and casuals respectively. American fans are much more insular, even many of the posters here don't know much of what's going on outside the US.
It's also true that as a country, much like Puerto Rico, the UK punches way above it's weight in terms of fighters/champions produced.
I think a lot of American fight fans on here have a superiority complex, which then manifests as insecurity whenever that perceived "superiority" is challenged. Personally I don't care where a fighters from, some of my fav have been from all over, but I'm also loyal to many British fightersComment

I think we perform pretty much as expected to be honest. We have the fourth most active boxers according to BoxRec and probably rank #3 in terms of performance right now. Puerto Rico is more impressive per capita, although they're in a bit of a trough currentlyComment

That's true I was thinking more population wise, but I guess participation is more importantComment
