Rematch Official, Whats Joshua Do To Reverse The Outcome? How Does Ruiz Repeat?

Alright looks like the Joshua vs Ruiz II is on.

What does Joshua need to do to reverse the previous outcome?

What does Ruiz need to do to repeat his W &/or what new adjustments will Ruiz need to make considering the approach Joshua may take in this fight that may make this fight harder for Ruiz?

Joshua doesn't have a great defense, chin, back foot, fluidity, but he got away with it to 22-0 because offensively he's a beast. The only thing he can change for the rematch is to show more respect to Ruiz and manufacture a win like he did with Parker. He has to control the distance and make it a war of attrition, not obliteration which is Ruiz's domain. He's going be super gun shy by default anyway.

Ruiz needs to lull Joshua into exchanges and beat him to the hook like last time. Also, he was very patient in round 4 after dropping him which is good because many people would've punched themselves out or smothered their own work, he also landed some really nice body shots and has a good punch selection.

Joshua needs to take the centre of the ring and push Ruiz back while still being careful and keeping him at range with his reach. It's crucial he resists the urge to exchange with hooks on the inside, if he mainly sticks to the basic one two with the occasional single hook or uppercut to catch him off guard that's his best bet.

Simple as that...however that jab better get faster because Andy was side stepping that jab and getting inside and popping AJ with nice Combos. Andy Quickness and Hand Speed gave him problems cannot deny that

AJ needs to improve his grab game. Control Ruiz head up close or bearhug far tighter, Ruiz got free of the loose hold AJ was doing several times. Get better at throwing certain shots in a way that he can fall into a clinch if he misses because not just hand speed but mental reactions were slower than Ruiz. Make the muscles count, push Ruiz back to the ropes or turn him before the ref breaks. Better upper body movement would go a long way but when guys try to add that later in careers it looks awkward and vulnerable like DLH under Floyd Sr and Berto vs Guerrero

Ruiz just needs to be himself and not let money or fame affect him. No obvious flaws in first fight, he got caught for the KD but overall his D was good

Joshua needs to try and keep the fight at distance. He needs to try and establish his jab/double jab and occasional right hands without committing to them with 100% effort as he tends to telegraph them and fall out of position if he misses.

If he can box like that he will eventually see some openings that he can exploit and start landing harder shots but he can’t afford to throw hooks the way he was doing.

I personally don’t think Joshua’s chin is as bad as some people are claiming. He got tagged with some big shots against Povetkin (who can ****) and managed to keep his composure. However he will get hurt if he gets caught whilst exchanging hooks so he needs to keep it long.

Joshua needs to jab that MF'er all night, keep the fight at distance, throw some big 1-2's and avoid any fighting on the inside. Don't get into exchanges, don't hook with Ruiz and tie up whenever you are in close. Basically, fight like you are Wladimir Klitschko

Ruiz both outboxed and KOd Joshua; As far as I'm concerned, he doesn't need to change a thing. And he'll have the added confidence of knowing he beat the guy before.

Joshua has to start from scratch. He's got to overcome both Ruiz and all the pressure of knowing that another loss to Ruiz and people are going to act like he's David Price 2.0. It's a tall order.

I think he should hire someone like Teddy Atlas and completely reset everything he's been doing. Just my two cents.

Joshua needs to learn to box and in 5-6 months I doubt he will. Ruiz doesn't have to do anything different except try to get his weight down in the event he's going to have to have a longer fight and I suspect (hope) he will.
