Comments Thread For: Lewis: Joshua Needs New Trainer, Should Replace Rob McCracken

Lennox Lewis changed trainers after Oliver McCall knocked him out in September 1994. The former heavyweight champion thinks Anthony Joshua should do the same thing. Lewis encouraged Joshua to replace trainer Rob McCracken in the wake of the British superstar's stunning, seventh-round technical-knockout loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.

Still Robles from Ruiz, follow the Lewis nicking Manny steward from Mccall blueprint.

Everyone knows better now. I'm already sick of hearing what AJ should do or should not do.

Wait for the rematch, let him get the KO, shut up and wait for Wilder vs AJ for the next decade.

Ruiz is just a tourist to those belts. He got very very lucky, didn't deserve a title shot, didn't against Parker, although he fought well and might have edged it out and definitely didn't deserve the fight with AJ. But he took advantage of it and got the W.

Next time things will be completely different. When I head Andy say "mom we don't have to struggle no more" I knew he'll have a hard time defending those titles. He's not even Buster Douglas. AJ also isn't Tyson, that's for sure but there's another killer out there and neither Ruiz not Joshua can take his punch. That's certain.

If anyone would know a thing or two about bouncing back from big upset losses, then it’s definitely Lewis. Obviously, the comparisons between the two are there to be made, maybe even history is repeating itself a little bit. Lennox being an olympic champion and highly touted prospect getting off to a 25-0 start before the McCall fight, being a world champion and Lennox also being in play to have the biggest match in boxing back then against another American in Bowe to be made. If AJ is what we think he is, then he’ll come back as an improved fighter. He’s always been a bit chinny for my liking and he took a shot in his temple which messed up his equilibrium all over the face. But man, at first I didn’t know what to think of it, but I love this result for heavyweight boxing, Ruiz Jr is a made man and he’ll probably always be a fan favourite now due to this fight.

Peter Fury is maybe the best defensive boxing coach in the game, and he obviously knows how to train HW's for fitness and endurance. But he has always had a very low opinion of AJ's boxing talent and physical attributes. What other people see as AJ's "great physique" is seen as a physical handicap by Peter!
