I would agree with you that Tyson became more popular, even beloved by many, after the Buster loss, but I disagree that people thought he was a better fighter afterward. Everybody loves to witness a redemption story, so AJ will undoubtedly pick up a lot of fans if he wins the rematch convincingly, but that won't restore people's belief in his dominance. More importantly, it won't restore the respect from other fighters.
He was the bench mark, even if he was not technically and physically a better fighter? Whoever held the heavyweight titles where always asked the question 'When are you going to face Mike Tyson' it was only when Lennox Lewis fought and knocked out Mike Tyson did he put this mythological strangle hold over the heavyweight division that Mike Tyson had to rest. 'It was as if people suffered from cognitive dissonance, they did not want to accept that Mike Tyson was not world champion. One of my friends asked me when I was in high-school/College, 'So what belt does Mike Tyson hold' I replied? None he is just Mike Tyson.
At the time of his retirement I used to think that it was a bad way for him to go out 'But looking back now at how other all time great heavyweights left the game? Mike Tyson went out like a warrior, nobody no fighter he has ever stepped inside the ring with had easy night' and it as maybe a testament to his durability that it took a lot to stop him 'I always remember the 20+ unanswered punches he took from Danny Williams' and still I think he could of gotten up, but his leg was messed up.
For me I agree with what David Haye stated 'Only now will we see what Anthony Joshua is made out of' and if you are supporter of his? I would imagine this is quite exciting, how is his personality going to evolve. I criticize Joshua for being scripted and robotic even outside of the ring, but slowly but surely he was coming into his own of late.
I don't look at social media much, so I don't know weather he is getting any stick, but I have seen afew video's of people stating he quit 'From Mayweather's gym'.
I don't think the rematch will be in the UK, it will be america or mexico 'And I think Joshua needs to not take a step backwards, you went to america, you have invaded that land? The fight and War is not over'.
Mike fought a few time after Buster upset him. He was the biggest fighter on the planet before his loss and highly respected, feared actually by some. Never rematched! Fought rud**** twice and went to jail. Twice letting Holyfeild Fight fall thru cuz of Mike lost to Buster then to Jail. So Dint fight for like 3 years. Fought Peter McNealy for top 200 fighter for $30 Mil. KOed Bruno Again in 3 or 5 rds look good in that one. Then ran into what king thought was a washed up Holyfield. He was huge before Buster. Huge after don't see the difference. He had explosive power quick hands and gave good interviews. Win or lose no one believed Tyson was acting just being himself. Do people feel this about Joshua? not feeling it. Tyson had the infamous bit fight in his rematch so it made him bit more infamous for all the worng reasons. All the while Holyfield and Bowe and Lewis gained ground. There were also a bunch of big fights that never took place during that time. Tyson Bowe Tyson Forman. AJ big in the UK but Lewis seemed bigger that AJ over here. Props to Dubois and Gorman for steping up.

Well, Mike was truly a shell of his former self by the time he fought Lewis. Sure, some diehard Tyson fans thought he could win given Lewis' prior chin issues, but the conventional pick was that Lennox was just going to be too big, strong and fresh to lose to an aged Iron Mike. The Buster Douglas fight was a comprehensive beat down. Mike was still a dangerous fighter, but jail and then the two beat downs by Evander had well and truly killed the aura of invincibility that he once had. Mike mostly fought no-hopers after that. Lennox put him down for good. Danny Williams and Mcbride just stomped on his corpse.
With regard to the AJ v Ruiz rematch, its going to be in the UK or MSG for sure. No possibility that it happens anywhere in Mexico. Ruiz will get paid extra to travel so good for him.
Lastly, not to be too much of a pedant, but you've misapplied the term "cognitive dissonance."
You sound about as delusional as Hearn. More popular than Wilder???? HA. You're funny.
Wilder's punch back in May was the Punch heard round the world. And it certainly isn't the first time it has happened. Ruiz was literally UNKNOWN to casuals before Saturday. Let's not try to belittle Wilder for AJ's shortcomings. At least you admit you're obsessed with Joshua, so, what you say is often understood for who you are.
Yo mamma lays golden eggs
Sorry I couldn’t think of a creative rebuttal so that will have to do. At least out of respect I said she lays golden eggs instead of rotten eggs
What are you mourning about? You didn't get KOd, it's just boxing. I pick losers all the time, forget that.
Leave me alone to mourn in peace. If your woman got F#ucked in the arse by a random stranger you shouldn’t be upset or angry as it wasn’t you f#ucked in the arse? Stop telling me how I should be feeling. AJ is an icon and we embraced him so he will represent us. Similar to the American people electing trump. You would all cry if anything happened to him . So you should know exactly what I’m going through at this time.lol
