I don't see any way for him to not fight Margarito and keep his fans and status, esp with the internet community. You can see Floyd even knows that, which is why he got so pissed and went on that 20 line rampage in the BT chat on Monday when the guy asked that one simple question about why he wouldn't fight Margarito.

Margarito is "easy work." And "if it makes dollars, it makes sense." Tell us all about it, Floyd.
Can't call it a rumor when both sides of the fence say they are currently in talks to make the fight. The only dispute between the side is the date. If Floyd fights and beats Spinks, he will win his fifth title in his fifth weight in class in less time than any other fighter in boxing history.

I give a slick boxer like Spinks a better chance of beating Mayweather than someone like Margarito.Although I would still predict Mayweather to win by a late round TKO.As Cory is known to fade in the late rounds.

I bet Floyd will take the fight. I made a post when Oscar announced that he didn't want to fight Floyd until May, that Floyd was going to take safer fights until he cashes in on Oscar. This is the safest champion to face at this time. He will take it.

I think internet fans of boxing paralell with alot of internet communities. Many people on the internet try to equivicate what they read on rumours/blogs and try to relate it and act as if thats the real world opinion of the casual person. Many people on here are knowledgable fans about boxing, however, even more people lack the importance to really awknowledge how the casual fan sees a fight like this. A casual fan cares because they know its a fight at 154 and spinks has a title from the man that beat the **** out of Ouma and took one fight from Zab Judah. The internet fan with all knowledge of ducking/articles/rumours sees this as PBF ducking Margarito.

People dont understand on these boards that these matches are not made for hardcore fans, they arent made to please the internet community who critisizes every move on everything possible. They are made simply to amplify the most money and the add the most to a legacy. The fact is, Spinks holds a legit title, he can box, and while this isnt the fight i wanted to see floyd in, im not going to go overboard like alot of you and shout "boycott" and "ducking" and all that other ****. I have accepted the importance of the casual fan, I have accepted that internet communities of boxing fans dont mean ****, that includes myself. My opinion is only an opinion, and no ****ing "boycott", no calling floyd "scared" none of that **** is ever going to touch his legacy and that if he wins that LEGIT title at 154, it will only add to his already impeccible record.

So no matter what you all feel he should do, none of it matters, in the end, Spinks simply has more to offer legacy wise for Floyd, and to the casual fan, this is simply a more attractive fight. Accept that.

I don't think Mayweather is ducking Margarito. I just think he is going to take the safer fight and for less money ( I assume). If he gets paid more than 8 million for fighting Spinks I would be really surprised (which is what he is being offered to fight Margarito). His boxing career will now revolve on keeping that record undefeated until he faces Oscar.

Why are people saying Spinks is a bum? He just beat a great fighter in Karmazan and won a world title. This is a great challenge for Floyd, especially cause he is going to 154. Seems Floyd wants Spinks then Mosley then De La Hoya. Sounds like a great road to take to me. And if Margarito is still around by then which i doubt because he will lose by then if he fights anyone good, then Mayweather can fight him.

id love this fight 2 come off

whether or not you like his style spinks is a superbly talented fighter

but if they fight i think a catchweight off 150 is more suitable 4 both but still put the belts on the line
