Comments Thread For: Hearn Doesn't Expect IBF To Strip Ruiz Of Its Heavyweight Title

NEW YORK Eddie Hearn expects Anthony Joshua to have a chance to win back each of the four heavyweight titles he lost to Andy Ruiz Jr. The only potential problem is that Joshua, had he defeated Ruiz on Saturday night, was expected to make a mandatory defense of the IBF championship against Bulgaria's Kubrat Pulev in his following fight. Hearn had discussed the possibility of putting together a Joshua-Pulev fight for October or November with representatives of Bob Arum's Top Rank Inc., Pulev's promoter.

That isn’t reassuring, Hearn seems to be surprised at every turn by the sanctioning bodies

The funniest line in the story: The IBO doesn’t have mandatory challengers.

Exactly why did AJ parade that joke of a belt around? (Heck, he should have kept it and not defended it against Ruiz so he could claim to still be the champ, lol.)

The IBO's recent lineage is as good as any of the other heavyweight belts
        Ruiz
        Joshua
        Fury
        Klitschko
        Lewis
        Rahman
        Lewis

There's no Charles Martin or Siarhei Liakhovic types like with the IBF and WBO.

The IBO is an absolute joke, the only people who seem to want to make it mean something are European based. It’s just an attempt to add another belt to an already belt heavy landscape. 4 belts are too much, it’s impossible to have an undisputed champ these days because the British and Europeans insisted on having the wbo belt. 10 years from now there may be 6 belts. It’s ridiculous and enough is enough. The wba belt should now be considered trash

Go look at their full weight division title holders. They EASILY got the most bs title holders.

For some reason they've always had a lot of South African title holders to which I don't get, but maybe there is a reason for it I'm missing.

This is there longest reigning champion. Sure everyone knows "Hardcore" Gideon.

This is why sanctioning bodies need to GO. They want to split the belt off of Ruiz so they can make more money. They also don’t want their champion having to fight its mandatory every two years because every other sanctioning body wants theirs as well. Each sanctioning body wants ITS RANKED GUY fighting for THEIR BELT. **** sanctioning bodies

What about us having a belt? The bs poster's belt, we'll have it made in china or mexico for like 5 bucks and charge 10 grand in sanctioning fees, heck the ring magazine has one
