Because of this his Dad wanted the fight cancelled or postponed but Hearn wouldn’t allow it due to the publicity and potential financial losses. That’s possibly why his Dad was having a real go at Hearn after the fight.

This would also explain why AJ seemed lost in the corner from the first round and asking what to do and why he was feeling like that etc. He also looked kinda ****** up with bruises and swollen eyes.

If it’s true then it’s definitely a bad look for Hearn.

There’s no official reports of this yet but something definitely seemed off from the start and this would go some way towards explaining it.

This isn’t making excuses by the way, it really would be a sign of how they terribly underestimated Ruiz though.
He was fully prepared for the wrong opponent, shouldn't have changed to fighting someone entirely different. Pulev or Ortiz would have been the better call here.

      no excuses! don't embarrass yourself!

you guys just don't think or see clearly, adn that's perfectly ok. you're almost all the equivalent of a "young" boxing fan and we're all seeing that now. just take your L and move on. nobody poisoned joshua. nobody knocked him out in sparring. he got his ass kicked by a guy with fast hands and solid enough punching power. that guy had 4-5 weeks to train and will likely beat his ass worse in the rematch.

you overhyped this guy so badly you need to go through hoops when he loses. jsut admit that you let eddie hearn tell you what to do and think for 2 years and move on.

how about you give some credit to the guy you actually saw who hit him with combinations? how about that? don't you think that's more appropriate than making a thread like this and menstruating all over the place? just thinka bout where you went immediately.

"well this guy just got his ass kicked in front of my own eyes. i'm a boxing fan, i should understand what it means when a guy at HW takes combinations and gets dropped. he was acting weird in the corner bro! instead i'm going to speculate that he was knocked out in sparring because eddie hearn convinced me that this guy was so good deontay wilder and tyson fury were scared of him."

sound about right? if not, you're not seeing what you're doing clearly
You must be mentally slow or lack basic reading comprehension cause you just bypassed everything I stated and kept on spewing the same nonsense. Again you completely ignore the rest of the post and simply focus on the part of “concussion before the fight” .... read the rest and let it sink in, I know it’s hard but just try.... no matter how long it takes.

And please do show me where I thought AJ was unbeatable or any fan boy nonsense like that, please go and pull up these posts. It shouldn’t be hard unless you are rambling on baselessly.

Most of the other posters understand where my post was headed in terms of direction, you don’t get it so I’ll leave it there.

AJ denied that he had any disease or injury leading up to the fight.

Nothing was wrong with him at all. Stop with all the conspiracies and excuses.

The only thing wrong with AJ is a bad defense and chin

He was asking bizarre questions in the corner like it was his first pro fight.... me and my mates were all puzzled by it.

No one is making excuses, I actually give Ruiz a great chance of beating him in the rematch. What happened on Saturday wasn’t some accident. AJ got a beatdown.

late replacement of a tune up is such a big occasion that it gets him knocked out

After all, it was only a fat, short, late replacement whose best win was a decision over a shot Kevin Johnson.

I'm not saying that's what happened. Just saying it's not at all unlikely. Realistically I think it was probably a perfect storm of an overrated Joshua going into a fight in less than perfect health, against an opponent he massively underestimated, in unfamiliar surroundings when he's been able to dictate everything up to this point, and Andy Ruiz producing the performance of his life.

Also see the 1998 World Cup final and Nike's alleged involvement in making sure Ronaldo played.

the scenario you describe is very plausible for many reasons..

but on a side note why the hate for maccreneli?
i mean like out of EVERYONE, why him?

I hear was still concussed but thought he could get Ruiz out of there in the first 3 rounds without taking any damage, they grossly underestimated Ruiz heart

If this is true then I agree with his dad and his dad had a right to go at hearns like that.

As far as the contracts and all that chit. I am sure there has to be clauses for cases where doctors rule that AJ cant fight.

In fact, if AJ had a legit concussion a week or two prior, isnt he supposed to report that to the NY athletic commission? They wouldnt have sanction the fight.

Sounds a lot like the Pac shoulder injury that was never reported on any paperwork.

                    What excuses?

Let me be clear, Andy Ruiz was the better man on Saturday and AJ will many technical and mental adjustments to reverse this result.

I was offering up a possible explanation for AJ being lost in his corner as early as the first round, well before Ruiz started beating him down. It would also explain why his Dad was really angry with Hearn so much so that he had to be held back.

You guys across the Atlantic need to calm down, not everyone who has anything to say about AJ other than “he’s a bum” is an obsessed fan boy that can’t handle a loss. I couldn’t really care less that he lost. It’s not like he’s the reason I started watching the sport. I’m well over 15 years deep in being a fan of this sport.

When I saw him chew on his mouthpiece a thought that there's something wrong with him did cross my mind. I'm a member of some boxing group on Facebook and some guy posted during the introductions that there was something wrong with Joshua but I brushed it off. But when he started talking to McCracken after round 1 I was convinced he's off.

Not sure why others are saying this is making excuses for Joshua. Ruiz was the better man, woj fair and square and beat Joshua the f#ck up.

But Joshua did look off and I want to know why. This in not making excuses ffs.
