Well, boxing advice wasn't all that AJ needed this time, he needed the father/mentor trainer talk of the type Virgil Hunter gives to Ward. Plus I saw some pre hype footage of the trainer saying to AJ nobody can handle his power, which is not true. Any boxing fan knows there's somebody out there that can take your punches and you need to be ready for that. Bad advice.

Oddly enough, AJ knocked down Ruiz with a left 45* inside.
Then when Ruiz got up, he nailed him a right cross that would have put 90% of the heavies now down.
MAYBE if he came up with another left hook after that right, maybe Ruiz goes down again.

But, you have to realize Ruiz has a solid whisker.
Go home with a happy decision win.
      One-two slide, one-two slide.
If you're gonna hook, only do it when you have to, then hug.

The worst thing you can do in this situation? Is change trainers.

Rob McCracken has a rapport with Joshua, and they have come through tough fights before together.

Joshua was beaten plain and simple, there may be excuses but 'Right now all he can do is focus on the rematch'.

The lead hook was working too, just needed to shoot one of those at a time.

            Incredibly weird.

"What will he come out and do?"

Maybe his arms are too heavy to consistently do this.
thats the conclusion i came to, his arms are too heavy

it's a bit embarrassing for someone who's suppose to be one of the best HW at the moment having to ask for so many instructions from his corner... it's like the man does not know what to do! but even so, most boxers in this situation wouldnt have acted like AJ did, most of them would have just went for broke and start throwing to get the ko or get ko'd. it was like AJ was scared.

Joshua is just not that intelligent as a boxer, no real natural instincts on defense at all.

I never thought I'd say this, but Windmills Wilder would destroy him inside 2 rounds.
Totally agree, I was going to post pretty much exactly this.

I've always thought that 'AJ' was a very manufactured fighter who never had natural instinct but was a physical specimen with good speed and power.

He said before the fight that it was very important that he took centre of the ring but he couldn't assert himself. As soon as he was pushed back he didn't know what to do. After the shots in the 3rd round he was completely lost, by the 7th he was out of ideas and didn't want it anymore.

Compare it to when Fury was in the corner v Wilder, and his reaction to getting dropped, it's night and day.
