Does a Ruiz vs Joshua rematch have to be in the UK?

If that was included in the contract then fair play.

But if not then I don't see why Ruiz would agree to that. He's the champion now and should be able to call some of the shots.

Contractual obligations haven't been revealed yet. If I had to guess, I doubt they included that. But, it might weigh heavily into negotiations. I wonder how DAZn comes into play because they sure AF don't want it happening in the UK. In fact, I wonder of part of their deal with Matchroom was that they get Joshua fights in the US. Why else would Eddie refuse to take him out of the UK and then, after he's working with DAZN, suddenly AJ's making his way across the pond.

Hearn was pretty positive last night... Rematch in the UK ...

Also... WTF happened with the 2.0 skin for the forum... Can't seem to find it anymore down the page when I re-log in for whatever reasons...

Plenty have aleady said that DAZN was pressuring Hearn to get Joshua stateside. The rematch in the states would do HUGE numbers. No clue what the actual contract states, but you better bet Skipper pushes to get this back in the states. Adam Smith I'm sure wishes the opposite and would want it in the UK.

Interesting times indeed. Personally? Don't care where it takes place, just want to see it again! UK folks love the #RevengeOrRepeat headline so they could push it like crazy for this fight LOL.

Ah, makes sense thx. I don't really follow the business side of DAZN but it seemed only logical to me that they had some influence in getting AJ over here and that it doesn't benefit them to have the rematch in a country where DAZN doesn't operate.

Maybe that's why Hearn said he thinks an immediate rematch might not be a good idea.

I'm sure it'll be a x mill for a rematch in the US or a x mill + y more for a rematch in the UK to make it make sense for Ruiz.

If I'm Eddie I want the rematch in the US & I'm probably wanting to stretch it out a few more months past the holidays to get Ruiz in as uncomfortable a situation as possible with distance from home + as out of shape as possible. Ruiz seems the type who's in his own feelings a lil too much. The harder you make things for him the less of a threat he'll be in the rematch I feel like.

Thing is Joshua beating Ruiz is probably better for DAZN than Ruiz beating Joshua again so I could see them back up off of making the rematch in the US & let it happen in the UK where Joshua would likely have some more edges.

Or DAZN will make a deal with Ruiz before the rematch happens. Thats the other angle I'd argue. Cuz the thing with Ruiz is I don't believe he's contractually made any deal with Matchroom beyond a rematch (& I'd speculate an option after that) so if Ruiz beats Joshua or Joshua & another guy he's right back on PBC which is an L for DAZN.

So DAZN is either gonna wanna help lean things Joshua's way or need to sign Ruiz to a deal & then they can care less who wins the rematch or where it takes place.

Also worth noting Joshua might not be with DAZN post last night &/or there is still a matching rights deal so I suspect there is some live dog potential in Fury vs Joshua or some other Joshua vs a non-Ruiz opponent that could happen or put Joshua in play on another platform besides DAZN. So maybe some bigger shakeup potential here although I'd bet against it I do think its a possibility.
