Going undefeated in boxing is not normal. Seems like taking an L nowadays and your automatically written off. Almost all fighters take an L at some point. Upsets happen. Even though his chin is highly questionable. I’m curious to see if AJ has the heart & determination to bounce back.

Completely agree. Heavyweights shouldn't be going undefeated. We used to consider being a two, three or four time champion a great achievement.
Going by current attitudes the guys who achieved that recognition would be bums.
AJ still has the deepest resume around. If he could beat guys like Klitschko, Whyte, Parker, Povetkin then he can certainly come back. If he can rematch and add Ruiz and another big name to it then he's right back where he was.
His response to getting hit will still be the big question mark though. And I think Ruiz is actually a tougher fight second time around. -
I'm starting to think, maybe the moment was too big for him. He probably saw MSG as this mythical place and put too much pressure on himself.Completely agree. Heavyweights shouldn't be going undefeated. We used to consider being a two, three or four time champion a great achievement.

I was expecting him to recover eventually from the first KDs and it looked like he was but he got caught again.
I would wait a little but before he rematched Ruiz. He can't afford another loss to guy that looked like he had no business in the ring with AJ.Comment

From the way he lost and the way that he spoke about it afterwards, I think it's going to take some time before we see him in the ring again, there is no point rushing it as he wasn't mentally there and with Ruiz fighting the way that he did against him if he rushed back into the ring against him then the same will happen, Ruiz has proven that he isn't just there to make up the numbers! Joshua needs time to sort his head out.Comment

Too long could wreck him even more. He hadn't fought in 8 months. He can't go 18 months with only a heavy loss in that period. There's no doubt for me that he'd benefit from a comeback fight. Take a complete no hoper and knock him out.
But I doubt he'll do it. I think he'll rematch this year. That's the quick route back to where he was and the alternative is a much longer road.Comment
