i dont like the contender anymore. it exagurates the drama involved in and out of the ring. they had stallone on the first season (cuz he was a boxer in 6 movies, so he must have been an expert!), they never showed you the whole fight, they magnified the sounds when the punches landed, slowed it down, added some dramatic music, and showed people outside the ring exclaiming whenever on que. for some reason, almost everyone in the first contender couldnt help but shed buckets of tears over EVERYTHING, anthony bonsante in particular. he cried when he got injured, he cried when he talked about his family, he cried when he saw his family, he cried when he lost, he cried when he won.
there was hardly a boxer in the first season that could punch. in the entire season, there were two KOs: bonsante KOd brent, and brinkley KOd bonsante. you'd figure that in a program that wants to exagurate the drama of boxing, they might want to get some more brawlers instead of pillow punchers.
it also featured that punk mora (who cant win a decent fight, or knock out a teddy bear, or show even the slightest shred of sportsmanship or dignity during or after his fights), that jackass ahmed koddur (see above), but thank god their both gone (sergio is yet to get the ass-whooping he so richly deserves).
but thank god stallone is gone, but ray's still around (groan), and judging from the records, only one contender has at least some decent power. but i doubt anything else will change. more drama, more crying, more decisions, less fighting, less reality, and to me less entertainment.
i'll watch just out of curiosity.Comment

I read somewhere that this season is suppose to be more boxing oriented. Last season was on NBC so the audience is more into drama, this time it's on ESPN (a sport specific audience) I doubt the ESPN audiences care about drama. This season is suppose to be about the boxing not the drama, so I'm excited!
Also, who cares who the contenders are, if they're young, or old, or have ****ty records. As long as their exciting to watch it doesn't really matter.Comment
