The IBF's rules state that if the mandatory challenger pulls out it goes to the next fighter down the list - which was Takam. There's no politics in that... it's the IBF's own rules which are listed on their own site.

Beyond that if Hearn had somehow got the IBF to ignore their own rules he could never have got Ortiz approved because Ortiz was not even in the IBF's rankings at that period of time:

AJ wouldn't be getting that much more. He'd be getting 20% more in a 60/40 split his way.

Wilder should be thankful for that much as he generates nothing really. Showtime are only paying well over the odds due to AJ being around. If he wasn't, Wilder would still be getting 2 Mill a fight as they would see no reason to pay any more than that. AJ has changed that bums life. Well, he wasn't going to change himself now was he?
