Who's the most protected heavyweight champion in history?

Off the top, I'm going with these three:

    - Wilder: never unified and fought selected overmatched Uber drivers tailor-made for him in his title defenses.

    - Fury: the ultimate opportunist and Chisora is the biggest name on his resume, apart from Wladmir and Wilder. Never defended his titles nor honoured signed rematches.

    - Mike Tyson: looked great against mid-level fighters but never won against an elite fighter.

Bit harsh on Mike Tyson IMO. He beat every contender in his era easily and destroyed the 2nd best fighter of his division so brutally it's still talked about now. The Douglas loss was a fluke, he would have murdered Buster if he had been in shape, but he basically didn't train at all and was mentally shot. Even after prison he was still good enough to beat most top 10 fighters without being anywhere near his best.

Agree with Fury and Wilder, after nearly 11 years as pro's, their resume's are an embarrassment.

It’s hard to say any of them are protected when Fury and Wilder fought each other and Mike Tyson fought Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis.

But the answer is Fury, Joshua and Wilder because they’re the newest champs. When they finish their careers they’ll have many more names on their resume.

If you think about it, there was a point in their careers where the Klitschkos, Lennox Lewis and Rid**** Bowe all seemed protected. Those are four of the 25 or 30 best heavyweights of all time.

I agree with Wilder and Fury who's best opponent was each other. Tyson was not protected and won all the belts and fought lots of top heavyweights. He didn't beat them all but he did fight them so he was not protected.

Sorry man, but how is Wilder better than unified, decade long champion Wlad, in Germany no doubt? Wilder is not Fury’s best opponent
