Good reply with fair points. I'm American, born in Brooklyn, and I agree that black urban culture is as phoney as phoney can be. Everyone goes around insisting that that they are "real," even while wearing $300 basketball shoes and living in a roach-infested 1-bedroom apartment with all of their cousins. Everybody is pretending out of pure insecurity, but that is the American way.
