I'm a GGG fan and not afraid to say this is a terrible fight. Clearly GGG at this stage is either looking for scrubs or Canelo rematches.

GGG fans are the worst of the world

          No doubt about that.

Odd I was thinking he same thing about Canelo fans.
Drops his title to avoid Golovkin. Gets a pass.
Fails his drug tests. Gets a pass.
Consorts with Gangsters. Gets a pass.
Weight drains his opponents. Gets a pass.
Punches out a Bantamweight. Gets a pass..
Gets controversial decisions in multiple fights. Gets a pass.
Moves up in weight and cherry picks a title. Gets a pass.
Fails miserably against Mayweather. Gets a pass.
            Really disgusting.

In bringing up Pac-man - interestingly I actually feel like this is a similar match-up - pre-fight at least - to Pac vs Horn. I see why Pac did that fight though - it was a big exposure/event fight in Australia for Manny and he was a superstar trying to extend and expand his brand in a way. GGG doesn't quite have that same 'excuse' here imo….

I don't predict Rolls to do as well as Horn did, the size advantage Horn had was his big edge and Rolls won't really have that. But then again I gave Horn no real shot going into the fight, and didn't really know much about him....
So hey boss, along the lines of fighters taking interim "light fights", "tune-ups", "fillers", whatever, just saw Lara is supposed to fight Ramon Alvarez on Aug 31st, is it ? Know what card ?

That's a division you follow, right ? So what do you think about that fight, in comparison to some of the others that you mentioned (quoted above) and gave some context to ?

Heck I'm starting to think this is a good topic, one to maybe start my own thread about.

Personally, I think context is all important when examining these matchups. In most cases, I'm actually totally fine with taking a "light touch" fight, from time to time. All about the context.

So... Lara vs Canelo's hermano… What say you, sir ? Let's hear some rationale.

Lol man as weird as it may seem since I am a GGG fan, Lara is probably my 2nd favorite boxer of this generation. I like guys that can really box and if they are lefty that's a bonus. I just really enjoy his style in the ring. He makes it look so easy usually.

So yeah I always enjoy seeing him fight. Kind of like the angle of him against Canelo's brother too lol. But from what I've seen that is a 1 sided fight and I think Lara actually KOs him. At 36 Lara is on the downside of his career but I hope he has another title shot before he is done and if the judging is fair I think he will beat anyone right now at 154.

So I do hope he gets a big fight after that one, just not sure who else there is for him to fight right now.

Full disclosure - I thought Lara beat Hurd 7-5, thought Lara lost to Canelo 7-5, and I haven't watched his most recent draw against Castano. Not saying Lara has won every fight, but if he was American I think he would be undefeated probably. Sad but true imo but that's boxing these days.

Well...I'm certain you can find people who think Lara won the Canelo fight and got robbed against Castano. Ima say he's due for a 'stay busy' fight. I think it fits nicely on that card. Then like you said, shoot for 2 more of the biggest fights available, if he handily disposes of Ramon. I got no problem with it.
One thing though. ALL these 1, maybe 2 fights a year guys.
I guess being over 35, not too bad. I know they have some wars, but until you're 35 and/or a HUGE champion, I really wish they would fight 3-5 times a year. Even Loma's not fighting enough for me. Eh, I dunno, I suppose it all depends on their early careers. Peace.

GGG at age 37 is fighting an undefeated american brother, while Canelo fought a eurobum who already got deleted in one round by Callum Smith and a GGG leftover.
