175 is a real deep division historically. And cleaning today's division out isn't quite the same as doing it back in the 70s and 80s (or earlier)
    That's what I was thinking.

Of course, I’m not saying canelo will become the best ever I’m just using that as a reference for my point. Also, how can chocolatitos win be one of the best in the past decade when it was controversial? Also agree on the cotto vs maravilla take, that wasn’t the p4p version of Sergio, I think by far the best win in the past decade was Marquez KO over pac... you can also add Estrada over SSR in there, Estrada was the underdog and took sor to school it was one of the best boxing lessons I’ve seen all decade for an underdog.
    Yes it does.

Canelo was closer to his best performance at age 29 vs. Jacobs than Floyd was to his age 24 vs. Diego Corrales.

Floyd was 36, the smaller man, and was farther away from his prime weight (130) than Canelo was.

Canelo 3 years later refused to fight GGG at anything other than 155, which is only 3lbs heavier than the 152 he fought Floyd at.

The only thing Bread was wrong about was that Floyd really won like 10 rounds vs. Canelo, not 8 or 9

If canelo goes on to be the GOAT... I know he won’t. But if he did, that wouldn’t automatically make Floyd the GOAT... my point stands... next

If Canelo is eventually regarded as a truly great fighter..... it will elevate Mayweather's win over him

that is how historians rank greatness..... by judging the strength/difficulty of the wins on a fighters resume

marquez didnt take another because he got his perfect ending he felt he deserved and didnt want it ruined...he had fought pac even basically till that point and prob felt he deserved a win or two....but couldnt get a fair shake....

he wasnt worried about losing for the reason you think he was....hes taken l's before
I certainly respect him for that attitude. Honor before money.

              not sure why

if Pac had got up and survived until the bell that round would have been scored 10-8 Marquez..... and JMM would have been leading the fight with 2x knockdowns

Pac has never been able to outbox Marquez..... and in the 4th fight Marquez completely changed his style to be more aggressive..... he could have tightened his game at any point

also, his powers of recuperation are legendary..... Marquez has knocked out plenty of fighters who hurt/wobbled him worse than Pac did in that fight

Marquez was MUCH worse at the end of round 1 in the first fight with Pac, and Pac did not win that fight either

only pacfans think what happened one second before you get removed from your senses actually matters
One thing for sure, Pacquaio wasn't getting up.

                Wrong.

The argument was never that it makes Floyd the goat.

The argument and you stated it in you response is that it doesn't get better with time and it does.

Canelo being an all-timer is just another feather in the cap of Floyd Mayweather, because he was the smaller guy, the older guy, fighting a future all-timer closer to the weight he was most comfortable at.

Floyd's GOAT argument was never just dependent on Canelo solely.
