I can agree with you on that thought. However, it was the way Marquez (who was losing the fight pretty handily) set Pacquaio up and then hit him with a punch that seemed to come from nowhere that made it so sensational. Marquez would not agree to another fight with Pacquaio and for good reason.

marquez has lost fights before...losing again wasnt what stopped another fight.....you remember well too that there were reports he was being offered insane amounts of money too....who wouldnt take an L for 20 mil or more?

marquez didnt take another because he got his perfect ending he felt he deserved and didnt want it ruined...he had fought pac even basically till that point and prob felt he deserved a win or two....but couldnt get a fair shake....

he wasnt worried about losing for the reason you think he was....hes taken l's before

        I keep hearing that rubbish

        not sure why

if Pac had got up and survived until the bell that round would have been scored 10-8 Marquez..... and JMM would have been leading the fight with 2x knockdowns

Pac has never been able to outbox Marquez..... and in the 4th fight Marquez completely changed his style to be more aggressive..... he could have tightened his game at any point

also, his powers of recuperation are legendary..... Marquez has knocked out plenty of fighters who hurt/wobbled him worse than Pac did in that fight

Marquez was MUCH worse at the end of round 1 in the first fight with Pac, and Pac did not win that fight either

only pacfans think what happened one second before you get removed from your senses actually matters

the robbery in the 3rd fight is the reason Marquez was disinterested

punters say..... remove the judges from the equation, knock him the fk out..... well, Marquez did that just that..... why would he want to run it back after being the victim of bent-scoring for years

Yes Marquez closed any doubt with that right hand, three close fights and one absolute helluva right hand to leave no doubt! No need for a 5th fight

I respect Breadman's opinion and boxing knowledge ALOT but always had a problem with his take on Cotto vs Martinez. Martinez limping around the ring was a painful sight to see. Definitely a case of opportunistic matchmaking like you said. The same Martinez that lost to Murray months under a pouring Buenos Aires rain in my humble opinion.
