This is a fight that needs to happen. A great heavyeight fight "dwarfs" all others. I was a wide eyed 11 year old for the "Thrilla in Manila". Even at that age I realized the importance of it. That era of heavyweights kept the sport in the headlines. It's a shame that Fury wouldn't rematch Wilder right away. That fight would have already happened and the winner should have fought Joshua. Stop all the nonsense and "Lets get it on" as Mills Lane would say!

I agree to an extent. I’m 37, so I’m a little younger than you. So my earliest memories as a fight fan was the late 80s and 90s when Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, and a little later Lewis kinda kept boxing afloat as kinda the last golden era of heavyweights. But the majority of my time as a fight has seen non-heavyweights like Oscar, Floyd, and Manny carry the sport. I assume most people on this site are hardcore fans. And if they’re anything like me, they’re one of few hardcore fans in their inner circle. And boxing has definitely seen a decline in popularity since the heavyweights were carrying the sport. And most most of the casual fans I know now seem to be a little more interested in boxing now that the big guys are exciting again. But either way, boxing is gonna be fine.

I'm not saying that the sport is "dead" without the big fights but a shot of adrenaline can't hurt. I just read about a possible Spence/Crawford matchup in the fall. Apparently the Spence/Porter fight is in trouble. The ratings for boxing lately have been decent but not great. The best fights should be made not only for the sake of the fans but for the sport itself. Wilder/Joshua would be a win,win for everybody!

I personally don’t have any interest in Spence-Porter. I think it’s a waste of time. And I have serious doubts that Spence-Crawford will be made anytime in the near future. I think the fight for Spence right now is Canelo. I personally don’t understand why Spence hasn’t jumped all in that opportunity. He’ll never get a bigger payday.

As for the situation at the top of the heavyweight division. I have a feeling that the Wilder-Fury rematch is gonna be next. AJ can make big money without either of them. And ESPN is losing money on Fury every time he steps in the ring with someone not named Wilder or AJ. I just think it’s gonna be easier to negotiate terms both parties like when it comes to Wilder and Fury. Opposed to either of them with AJ, who’s gonna come into negotiations as the clear A-side, at least in the minds of his representation.

There is a claim that Spence was offered 20 mil for a Canelo fight. Wouldn't mind seeing it!

thats great...but there are alot of claims out there....that are just a load of BS

i know brook jumped up to MW...but that fight was a joke to me and i though brooks corner stopped it at the first sign of trouble....so much that even brook looked stunned that it was stopped ...it seems like a joke/circus

when people said golovkin was ducked ward the golovkin superfans said it wasnt fair to jump right up and take on the #1 guy.....and canelo slowly made his way up

i know some consider spence a big WW but thats quite a jump to go up to fight a guy thats fought at SMW right off the bat and is the #1 MW

                    This from Boxing News 24:

What could potentially get in the way of a Crawford vs. Spence fight taking place this fall is Golden Boy Promotions. Oscar De La Hoya has talked about wanting to make a fight between Saul Canelo Alvarez and Spence this year. There are rumors of Spence getting $20 million for a fight with Canelo. That number would certainly be difficult for Arum to top for a fight between Spence and Crawford. If Golden Boy Promotions boss De La Hoya is serious about wanting to put together a fight between Canelo and Spence, it’s going to be hard for Arum to compete with that to put together a Spence-Crawford fight for the fall.

Not sure where they get their sources but sounds like Oscar would want Canelo fighting a guy that has to move up!

And lol at your sig gif. Is that a towel advertisement?
Because Wilder has been offered multiple career-high purses incl. a 100m guarantee and his spastic fans literally think AJ made those offers to duck Wilder
