Basically it was a PPV at the movie theater -- or any arena set up to provide big screen viewing access of the fight (I saw it at Robertson Memorial Field House at Bradley University in Peoria, IL) as were other major fights of that era. And not too long after the fight, fans could purchase the fight on 16mm film. Both options were crude by today's standards; however, at the time they were both a god send.

Let me be the first to add that although Schmeling served as a paratrooper in WWII, he was never a member of the **** Party. Also, Schmeling (who made out well financially after WWII) became life long friends with Joe Louis and provided significant financial help to Joe (after the IRS wrecked Joe financially).

The fight will be huge but am not sure about it being the biggest ever.
It's debatable. Biggest in what sense?

            I know, right??

Maybe Big George is exaggerating a bit to make his point, but there is zero doubt the level of excitement a Joshua/Wilder fight would pump up. I think there are better fights out there just among current fighters in different divisions that could be signed, like Crawford/Spence, Golovkin/Alvarez 3, or Lomanchenko/Garcia just off the top of my head. but this would be the biggest, most hyped up one for sure.

Maybe but the majority of fight fans enjoy cage crap now days.

Its probably the biggest opinion divider ever, right? Due to the platforms that any boxing fans have, they can easily come on and pour fuel onto the hype and the differing predictions.

Most HW fans have picked a side already and we are all so entrenched in our decision that it all the Wilder v Joshua fight would do is give all of the fans the 'I told you so' card.

Wilder and Joshua are mainly in it for the money, the glory of undisputed isn't really worth that much as the division this fight will cause.

I wouldn't be surprised if the loser of the bout quickly retires a very wealthy man.

A big fight but can't shake the feeling it will happen too late.

I definitely disagree that it'd be the biggest ever, but it'd definitely be the biggest in well over ten years. You probably need to go back to Lewis-Tyson to find a fight that'd be bigger, only if this fight gets made both guys are in their prime as opposed to Tyson being over the hill and the fight being over-marinated. If Joshua gets past Ruiz with no issue and both promoters finally put their differences aside and make the fight while the iron is still hot, I think that billing the fight as "fight of the century" is probably justifiable.

How quick people are to use superlatives. Fury got up from not just a right hand, a follow up shot that caught him as well. And then boxed Wilders ears off.
Calm down folks, he's still a ducking coward who will speak in riddles when it comes to fighting Joshua.
I have money to bet if this fight happens.
