Problem for the WBSS is that idk if they can maintain the quality of their tournaments in other divisions cuz of the platform wars & the money at stake at that level.
I also think the injuries that prevent WBSS fights from happening lower the quality of the Ali Trophy as I've come to realize with the 118lb tournament this year (although the fact that Monster is still one of the remaining fighters make that less of a thing, but I can envision a problem if Monster had been one of the guys injured like Tete was who left the tournament w/o losing) & like it threatened to do last year with Callum Smith getting a free ride with a bs semifinal final fight & like he almost appeared to get with Groves' injury in the finals too.

Big fan of the WBSS .
The pullout of Tete definitely ******.
But if there's one thing we learned from prior tournaments like the Super Six . It's that there are gonna be injury's and substitutions .
So IMO it doesn't deminish the significance of winning a tournament with 2 or more titles on the line.

I would like tournaments for each division every 4 years. Each tournament will be fought over 2 years
And hope they can get 8 of the top 10 to take part.
Yeah injures can be an issue. But they can be in the sport in general.
Opening it up to more divisions. Running 4 each year, they can put on some good cards with all top fighters.
Set events where people can put in there calender and the final can be like the Superbowl or World Cup final.
Obviously this takes money and time, and they need to grow what they have.

Ward turned out to be a pretty good fighter .
I think these tournaments can make fighters, make them better take them to new levels.

I gotta disagree with that. The ultimate value in boxing is & will always be who you beat not in a title or specifically with the WBSS a trophy.
I mean you can already say if Monster wins the 118lb tournament, as I suspect it does, by beating Doniare instead of Burnett (who got an injury in his Doniare fight that made that W less of a W in my & many's eyes) & Tete (who got an injury & is just gone now) that lowers the value of his accomplishment.
Now nothing much you can do with how things went down with Burnett. So thats always going to be what its going to be, but with Tete specifically he never got to be legit beaten out of the tournament. And he was one of the top guys & personally I had him a favorite to fight Monster in the finals once Burnett was out.
For those reasons I think the WBSS needs to re-configure some things if it wants to become a legit threat to other players in boxing.
And maybe more importantly I think the WBSS needs to separate from being a promoter with Sauerland & be more like a middleman to insure guys like Arum & Haymon are more willing to put their guys in the tournament to begin with. Cuz the WBSS is going nowhere & have a lower ceiling if they can't entice the bigger promoters to have their fighters enter the tournament. And just signing away your fighter for up to his next 3 & very likely his biggest fights isn't going to be something a lot of big name players in the game are gonna wanna do or be peer pressured into. The WBSS needs to let TR promote WBSS fights if TR fighters are in it & let Haymon hire promoters to do the fights his guys are in.

Obviously that all would be amazing, but the realities of setting that up require more things under your ability to make happen then the WBSS is even close to having. Sh^t man the WBSS is having money issues this year & lets breakdown the divisions they are effing with NOW. They got a lil guy tournament which is always cost effective. They got a young division which is always going to reduce your costs. And they got a repeat of a division they did last year with some newly defeated guys & some young guys which is gonna keep costs down as well. And with all that they still had money issues this year.
How do you do a 147lb, 160lb or HW tournament where there are multiple guys who are making millions for bs fights & can make 8 digits on a big night? I don't think the WBSS is, or will be anytime soon, able to fund that sorta operation. I'm not even super confident we'll see a season 3 at this point.

Yeah it is a long way off.
But I hope it will grow and when young boxers dream of winning that tournament rather than a boxing world.
Maybe I am hoping so because it will bring some stability to boxing as well as having great fights and take the politics out of boxing.
