A lot of W's early KOs weren't that impressive because he fought so many guys that just weren't that good.

But lately he's been KOing good guys in spectacular style. The Chisora, Ortiz and now the B KO's were all excellent. The C and B strikes were pretty much perfect. He's getting smarter and my god he hits hard. I'm a believer. He's a straight up menace.

A fight with Fury will probably be much the same as the last. Fury will clown him and Wilder is going to have to be even luckier to hit him next time because F is extremely smart and he will have learned.

A fight with AJ is fascinating. AJ will doubtless fight pretty conservatively looking for openings and if he hurts W, unlike Ortiz AJ will finish him. But of course W can seriously hurt AJ at any time. Just a great fight. Can't wait.

No need to go back and compare him to anyone, that's always a slippery slope. I do know this...Wilder is the most devastating puncher of this generation and it's not even close. If you like exciting fights and knockout's then he's your guy.

julian jackson had heavy heavy hands. so did duran. ray mercer was a good puncher. tyson was beast mode, short compact and fast. wilder got sick power too. has the reach to really put some leverage on those shots.

The weight thing is a bit misleading at HW. He's KO'ing guys 30 pounds heavier than him but a lot of the time that is just fat. If Breazale was in shape he'd be around 225 same as Wilder. HW's carry a lot of lard, especially the donkeys Wilder fights.

Put it this way if Hawks opponents didn't have to make weight and were carrying 30 pounds of fat, they were still going to sleep when JJ hit them.

Cutting weight can hurt a fighter’s punch resistance. So in that respect, heavyweights don’t get the luxury of occasionally fighting guys that have spent the majority of their camp shedding pounds. And they’re also not fighting guys that didn’t eat a real meal during the entire fight week, until after the weigh-in.

No doubt Wilder’s power is the real deal but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves!

Prime Iron Mike Tyson with Kevin Rooney before prison was in another galaxy, it’s such a shame he didn’t have those truly worthy adversaries at the time to truly test his abilities and his own power against!

But I give Wilder credit, he truly has unique power!

He’s dropping and knocking out grown men outweighing him 30-45 pounds which is insane!

Wouldn’t want to take a punch from that man even if they pay me that’s for sure!

Good summary. Wilder nowhere near on the same level as Tyson at his peak (which, insanely, was at about age 22 before the drugs and lifestyle dulled him). Tyson's opponents at that time in championship fights (after Berbick/Smith) were:

- Pinklon Thomas 29/1
- Tucker 34/0
- Biggs 15/0
- Holmes 48/2 (who had only lost to Spinks twice)
- Tubbs 24/1
- Spinks 31/0
- Bruno 32/2

All before his 23rd birthday........

Q1: Would Wilder have beaten all of those guys ?

Q2: With Tysons speed and movement, would Wilder even lay a glove on prime Tyson if Wilder fought him ?

Q3: What would Tyson have done to all of Wilders opponents to date ?
- caveat that only one possibly interesting would have been Fury, but even then, can't see Fury making 12

Wilder has the hammer of Thor for sure, but Tyson had speed, movement, combinations, boxing skills...plus he had the power.

For real though, his power might be on par with Mike Tyson. He might even have more just because Wilders reckless aggression allows him to get more of his body and full weight into his punches, putting himself out of position defensively and leaving himself open.

Mike Tyson will always be better though. He had better technique, threw a better variety of punches, threw more punches, and I think Iron Mike took a punch better, but then again, the heavies are bigger now.

Mike fought in a tougher, 15 round era though.

Fun to compare the 2, they are 2 completely different styles.

Mike was more well schooled, groomed to be a champion, Wilder did it to save his daughter, at 20 years old no less, he missed years of development, he also did not have access to an amazing trainer like Cus, Cus would have made wilder even more of a monster than he is right now.

If a prime Tyson was to fight the version of Wilder we saw sat night, Wilder would stop him early, Tyson would have no answer for a man that tall, with that much range, and concussive power, Tyson never saw a fighter like Wilder, Lewis was tall, and powerful, but not the athlete Wilder is, or as awkward, Wilder smokes Tyson IMO

And let's not overlook the fact that Wilder's one-punch KO has to be one of the most swagged out one-punch KO's of all time. He folds Breazeale with an atomic bomb right hand, twirls, bows, and strolls to the neutral corner in one fell swoop!!
