Yes but like i said it isn't always down to the fighter. Matchmaking, hype, contracts, marketing, everything is done for them by their promoters, agents, etc etc. People who don't really need to give a damn about legacy, and more about keeping their fighter unbeaten, or maintaining hype as long as possible (Mayweather- Pacquiao). Why would the fighter or his management risk everything when they don't need to (yet)?

True, but who is to say what matters more to a fighter's pride, remaining undefeated? Or taking the risk of getting KO'd to try to be undisputed? And knowing that if/when they take their first loss, it's usually downhill from there. Sure, from a purely gladiatorial point of view the best should always want to be THE best, but fighters are managed more smartly than the old schoolers back in the day, back when they'd fight twice a week if they could and just fought for the sake of fighting.

No fighter is gonna be ready 365 days a year, its just not gonna happen. According to you guys Ortiz is "old" - he is in boxing years. No dis*****g that. He can't always be "ready" whenever Joshua decides to fight someone else, its just not practical - life happens, kids happen, pain happens etc,. OOOr he could be cycling off something illegal. He shouldn't have engaged that much in the first. Use the first round to size tour opponent especially if it's a power guy like wilder. The more round you go the more chances you have to win.

It's clear that great punchers get frustrated easily.

Well of course nothing makes sense with the organisations. But in this case it's still irrelevant because if Whyte rightfully had got this fight instead of Breazeale, he would have been KO'd equally as quickly most likely. So yeah it's unfair that Whyte hasn't had his chance, but the outcome is the same.

Nothing is the same until it has happened.
Am pretty sure there were many like you during tyson/douglas, already wrote him off even before the fight was made.
