Yea. I've been told he took out many of his opponents in less than a minute, and at least one in a mere 20 seconds. He surely has not stayed too long in a fight for anyone to be sure about his stamina. The longest he fought to this day was four rounds, I heard.

He reportedly packs power in both hands, though he fights off an orthodox stance?

There was an article I read not too long ago that a friend of his died in his home-- a cardiac situation. The friend (sorry, can't recall the name), who was said to be a partime boxer-actor, was reportedly the brother of the owner of Kingfish Promotions and wife of the actor John Goodman.

The actor-fighter and Rodriguez were reportedly so close that there was talk that Rodriguez considered giving up boxing (?) Good that he reconsidered that.
I sure would like to get the chance to see the guy's power one of this days.

I think Kingfish is David's promoter?

I dunno, buddy. It would seem so given the friendship. But I think it was something called Blue Cap Promotions that promoted the card in Mich top-billed by Campas-Hernandez. Rodriguez was in the undercard going up against Whetzel in a scheduled 6-round date. That was Rodriguez's last fight.

He also fought in the undercard of Barrera-Fanah in his hometown of El Paso. That card was promoted by Golden Boy. I saw Barrera-Fanah on TV. I didn't realize until told, just recently, that Rodriguez was in that card too. I can't recall that Rodriguez was part of the TV package; perhaps not.

I have also been told that he fought in another Golden Boy card: the one headlined by Daniel Ponce de Leon and Emmanuel Lucero. That was also in El Paso in late 2004.I didn't catch the entire card at all.

** Of course you have zer0 credibility. Nino has never been tested for stamina, though he easily went 4 rounds the only fight he had which lasted the distance, something you would have trouble doing.

The only credibility I have is my knowing the promoter that sent 2 fighters his way which is far more credibility than you have.

Puleeeeeeze! Stop the BS. Rodriquez is a guy who is padding his record as much as he can so he can get one decent money fight on TV with a ranked guy or champion, get his rear end knocked out, and then coach football at a local grade school for the rest of his life. He's got no stamina, no skills, and, even if he could apply his power, he's fought nothing but bums EVERY fight, which can't be doing anything for him experience-wise. He's the kind of guy the champs thrive on nowadays on pay-per-view, e.g. low-risk, over-rated opponents for your cash, rather than legitimate, skilled fighters who deserve a chance. You guys are encouraging this crap.

On the other hand, it's nice that a local fighter is exploiting boxing's meat market for a change, rather than the other way around, as some of our better fighters have been paid to take dives, been thrown in over their head on short notice for almost no purse, etc. etc. What goes around comes around.....

Though it could have been written better, I do think you did "misread that..."

Follow the sequence of the words if you will:" The friend,...., was the brother of the owner of Kingfish promotions..."

So, clearly, it is "the friend" who was the "brother of the owner of Kingfish promotions." The intervening phrase between the two commas (represented by dots in the immediately preceding paragraph, above, but read in the original text as, "...,who was reportedly a partime boxer-actor,") may have led you astray.

There's this simple thing about subject ("The friend"), linking verb ("was") and predicate ("the brother of the owner of Kingfish promotions.")

I have to admit I did not consider the possibility that someone reading what I wrote may have trouble understanding what I meant, given the simplicity of it all. I should have put a period after, "owner of Kingfish promotions," and started a new simple sentence such as, "The owner of Kingfish promotions is the wife of John Goodman." It would have been "friendlier" to a number of readers like you. Like I said, it could have been written better.

But then, the post was addressed to badblood; and, I don't think he has complained about what I wrote. After all, worse ways of writing have been known to exist in this thread and many others on this and other sites. Syntax and the rest of grammar are not exactly a primary concern in a boxing thread. I'm sure that you share that view as evidenced by the example (your own post) pasted below. Notice you didn't bother to capitalize the letters b in "but" and h in he'll when you started a paragraph and a new sentence, respectively?

Posted by rooq, 6:06 AM, 07--16-2005, in the thread, "The Excuses to why Sturm lost thread", on BoxingScene Forums, Non-Stop Boxing:

but still...sturm won't make the same mistake again and return to his old tactics. he'll probably get another shot in germany within a year.

** You nutcases are a dime a dozen. You know nothing of Nino save what you see on his record. He ain't even a ranked fighter yet and may never fight for a belt, yet you soil your shorts over your own shortcomings. So typical.
