Compromise. Give up the MMA and keep the noble art. Make sure your wife doesnt catch wind of Wilder running round screeching about wanting to kill somebody.

He's told us that he was defending himself. He said this last fight was because a bigger kid was picking on him and so in order to get him to stop, he punched him in the face without notice and the kid ended up with a bloody nose. Well he got into a fight again last week and now my wife no longer wants him to watch combat sports saying it's setting a bad example for him as according to her, violence doesn't solve anything.

He wanted to watch the Hurd vs Williams fight and sat in the living room with me, but when my wife saw what was on, she got mad and told him to go to his room or watch something else. I told her to calm down it's ok and then she started yelling at me saying I'm not helping the situation.

Any father been in this situation?
Not for nothing divorce her or put her in her place. She married you knowing that you love combat sports. Also I’m sure your father and his did as well and the love runs in your family so if I was you I would put her in her place.
I would also put him in a boxing or mma program as well. Another thing is there’s more violence on regular movies/tv/video games than there is in combat sports. Most bullies and aggressive people in this work are not into combat sports. People into combat sports are more peaceful in general than those who are not. Your wife has good intentions but shes misinformed about combative sports. You should educate her on them

If watching boxing is making him get into fights at school then he doesn't understand boxing as a sport. An option would be for him to go to a boxing gym and understand that it's a sport and it's about discipline and learning a craft. It's not about watching someone KO someone else on TV and trying to replicate that in the playground.

Explain to her that boxing teaches discipline and self control. And increases your chances of being successful at self defense which is what your son is doing.

The problem isnt watching boxing it's living in modern day society. try to explain to her that many kids these days arent fighting they are stabbing and maiming each other. So for your son to only being using hands i applaud that.

The average women has no concept of how harsh or cold this world can be they live in a bubble mostly and believe bad things only happen on tv or in movies.

There isn't much you can do other then perhaps do some boxing training with your boy and explain to him that self defense is usually reactive instead of pro active. That's not to say wait until you get attacked to fight back just that certain situations can be sorted out non physically by means of verbal assertiveness. "stop what you are doing, i dont take kindly to bullying shall we take this outside or should i beat the **** out of you in front of everyone?"

The bullys hard outer case should soon crumble as a result of adrenal dump most times. If he takes up the challenge then hit him hard as you can on the chin or jaw pre emptively with the lead hand and only until he isn't a threat.

Maybe you can get her to read this and think it over for a few minutes.

                  UFC is sh.it

Boxing is respect to the others, peace, discipline, love, tradition.

Explain this to your son and wife
