Canelo vs. Jacobs does $8.6 mil gate at T-Mobile

These numbers are alright, not amazing, but probably better than anyone in North America not named Pacquiao. Canelo is the cashcow in North America, but he's not as compelling as a prime Mayweather, Pacquiao, De La Hoya, Tyson, etc....

I don't think its fair to put him up against those legit PPV monsters. I wouldn't expect him to do the numbers of the other PPV boxing kings before him. He barely speaks any English how is the average American supposed to relate. He really only appeals to Mexicans, and Mex-Americans. A big goddamn market don't get me wrong, but still only 1 market.

I've noted the English thing myself in the past & I 100% believe its putting a lower ceiling on his potential upside by not spending more time speaking English in the media & to hype fights. Canelo should be on Fallon's show before or after each fight & singing in that chubby UK guys car & sh^t like that. He should be doing the type of sh^t Oscar was doing in his prime.

In fact thats another thing I'd throw out there on why Canelo is probably doing BETTER than anyone is saying in this thread cuz how many A sides who speak as lil English as Canelo does who sell as much as he does. I mean f#ck me man there is a reason he's got one of the biggest deals in boxing history. And of course when Floyd got the biggest deal in boxing history there were a bunch of fanboys of other fighters & haters of Floyd sh^tting on Floyd all day too & talking about Showtime effed up.

doesnt need to sell out. It’s 4k more seats than mgm and floyd didn’t sell out mgm vs marquez, Maidana 1 or 2, Berto or guerrero. Doesn’t need to be a sell out to be a success.

It does need to be a sellout if your main event is demanding 50M dollars. In all it probably cost 70-80M to air the event. No way they are satisfied with a gate under 10M.
All those fights you mentioned from Mayweather had a higher gate than Canelo Jacobs lol. 8.6 million is bad considering the amount Canelo and Jacobs earned has nothing to do with Mayweather, don’t know why you keep throwing his name aroundz

First off, Canelo/Jacobs live gate was just fine and as expected.

And bringing up Baldomir and Judah is ****** when Floyd wasn't a true superstar until after the DLH fight. Canelo already got that DLH-esque fight against Floyd.

Mayweather after the DLH fight never did less than 9M at the gate.

see that’s where u are terribly confused. The gate is a separate entity in itself. What DAZN pays canelo hasn’t ZERO to do with the gate. DAZN doesn’t participate in the gate, foreign tv etc.

The gate is Gbp and a Matchroom to divvy up and you should know that in these big Las Vegas fights the mgm who owns T-Mobile pays a site fee to the promoters . Mgm keeps that gate.

What he should have done is mention after the DLH fight but u notice he didn’t want any restrictions on his statement.
