Hearn got the $50M offer and immediately said no, even going as far as to note that the fight making less money at home didn't matter. He still hasn't asked for a contract, because out of his own mouth he said no to fighting Wilder in America. Ortiz's trainer says there was minimal communication, and no contract, which was requested. This isn't the same thing unless you believe Hearn, and he's frequently less than honest when building up fights, so I'm not inclined to believe him.

$7M is easily Ortiz's biggest payday, and serves to strengthen the Joshua-Wilder matchup which Hearn and Haymon should want. Unless Wilder 2 (not a great fight) gets announced for winter with a bigger payday attached, an outright rejection just doesn't make sense. He can't get that type of money anywhere else, so why run from all of that opportunity?

If the money for an American broadcast on Showtime was coming from BT Sport (and not Showtime), Hearn could just say that. For some reason, only people in internet forums say this, and they all for some reason can NEVER produce evidence.

Hearn said the money was there. But only found out about BT soon after. Therefore they couldn't have taken the deal anyway.

Warren and Dibella confirmed BT was involved. Finkle even said Sky could have the fight if they could match BT's offer. Search it out and you'll see for yourself.

For Hearn to have lied, he would have needed to say it was next only to go back on his word once contracts were signed. Did he do this? No he didn't.
