He could have over trained but I think part of that is he had a lot of weight to cut for that camp. Spence looked HUGE in some of those interviews before the fight. I do think having a 9 month break from the prior fight didn't help. Spence looks in better shape heading into this camp. If the snap still isn't there this fight, then he is just over growing the weight class and needs to move up soon. Porter will be more aggressive than Garcia and give Spence plenty of opportunities to get his power shots off so let's see how he looks.
Spence gets pretty big between fights, to the tune of 170 from what he said after the fight. He also said he's going to keep his weight down going forward so his camps won't be so extreme so that might help him stay at 147 through 2020 if he sticks to it. I just hope we get the Crawford fight before he moves up since I don't think Crawford would go to 154 out of necessity like Spence.

    • This division has been exposed. These guys would all get destroyed at 160. Hurd is technically horrible as a fighter. Jermell got exposed. It's over for these guys.

        Wack comment

Maybe it’s that there’s no clear cut #1 guy at 154 and on any given night any of the prime top dogs could beat any other of the prime top dogs with everyone except Mungia under 1 umbrella giving PBC the ability to make a sh.it load of dope evenly matched fights at 154 that could go either way

So if you keep mixing and matching you’re going to get great fights with a handful of evenly matched great Prime Fighters You can’t write any of these Young Guns off after a Taking a L or 2 and still get a significant W and be right in the mix and be considered among the best in the division .

        To me thats great

don’t see the need for such a b.itch as.s comment

        • First off great fight both guys laid it on the line but JDoc seemed possessed from the opening bell and was taking those straps home with him

Few thoughts great to see the inside fighting from JRoc / Hurd seems like most fighters of this generation don’t fight on the inside. Credit to the ref for allowing them fight and not always breaking it up. JRocs inside game was a thing of beauty tonight just landing solid shots from start to finish that Had Hurd neck snapping back shaking him to his core

Props to Hurd for fighting like a Champ even though getting curb stomped the entire fight amazing he lasted the full 12

Maybe Inaas watching a different fight but the fight I saw had JRoc beating on Hurd basically for the entire fight , a joke that Goosen / Lewis trying to act like it could have gone either way. And f.uck the Judges That wasn’t a 115-112 Fight , Giving Hurd more then 2-3 rounds is being overly generous, F.uck the Judges too

Why does every platform that covers the sport have to swing off the nuts of the Aside and not give a honest representation of the fights. It does a disservice to the sport when every platform is trying to twist a narrative that isn’t a true representation of the actual fight

Props to JRoc much deserving of that strap.

Barrios did his thing hope he gets to step up sinner then later

And PAC/ Thurman is a great fight

Props to Manny willing to take on the best Prime Young Guns in the division

Thurman’s going to be the first of the new Era to take Manny scalp.

            • It was a closer fight than people are saying but Williams definitely should've won. He was so much better on the inside because Hurd was smothering his punches. Incidentally, Hurd did better on the inside against Lara. Williams started and finished most of the rounds strong. I saw one moment after the 6th where it seemed like he was starting to second guessing himself. However, he came back strong in the next round. All credit should go to Edwards. He told Williams all the right things and made him believe this was possible.

I believe Hurd will come back strong. He's got too much dog in him to let this get the best of him. I also have to give him props for trying the whole fight. He never gave up at any point.

This was a very entertainment fight. I told someone at work to check this fight out but I placed a lot of emphasis on keeping on eye on Hurd. Smh.

              • Fight of the Year brothers and anyone saying these guys would get exposed by 160 doesn’t know sh@t about boxing.

154 is murderers row nothing but supreme athletes. At 160 they aren’t fighting the killers they are sparring professionals with 1000 advantages in the champions favor. If guys at 160 are the truth why are they ducking Jermall Charlo and Demetrius Andrade? They are from this same 154 PBC talent pool and right at 160. Danny Jacobs is good but he doesn’t show up as a killer. He is just a good dude.

Quit talking fan boys let’s see them roll through these kids. We will not tolerate fake commentary about man crush dominance we need physical proof to give anyone the crown. That’s boxing Fuykyah!!!

Agreed. Lewis needs to stop commentating - he seems to make up his mind who he's going to cheerlead from the getgo, then have difficulty changing gears if his guy is getting stomped. I had to turn off the commentary after three rounds as the commentary told me nothing about what was actually happening, meantime a lot of what wasn't happening.

I also had max 3 rounds for Hurd, Williams just had his number in that fight. Hurd looked tired and sluggish and took a lot of punishment - not sure if it was overtraining or weight. He looked huge again and it wasn't a good look for him eating all those shots, the volume of arm punches and how slow he was throwing punches at the end of the fight - not sure Hurd can carry 154 any more and no fighter has that many fights like that in him.

Not sure where Hurd goes from here, but if its at 154, he's got some conditioning to work on.

Personally, I believe that he should carefully consider moving up to 160 because he is a big kid and he is cutting too much weight between fights to make 154lbs; More than 30 pounds to be exact. The longer he stays at 154 the weaker is body is going to get.

Only a scummy fan boy could write this comment. You can’t even see what boxing is just on sites all day promoting an agenda. Fight of the Year in a PBC 154 division that plays out like real boxing should. No weight clauses, ducked matchups, fake judges, fake refs or watered down fights for money.

No more banter punks if guys at 160 like GGG would steam roll guys at 154 they would be doing it by now. I don’t see them having a problem fighting unworthy fighters like Steve Rolls? But when the guy is good the fight wouldn’t be competive so it shouldn’t happen? GTFOH!!!

BTW there are two killers hangin out at 160 in Andrade and Jermall Charlo being ducked. Let’s see it happen, no more convincing anyone of your Man Crushes dominance as folks like GGG continue to OPENLY DUCK talent from this fight pool.

Danny beat him and he has been shook ever since. Save this ignorance, no body is buying into your fighter preservation program. Not saying folks like GGG can’t win but he will have to prove it to claim it.
