  • Comments Thread For: Hurd: I'm Overlooked On P4P Lists; I'm In Top Five, No Question

Jarrett Hurd has the most impressive resume of any of boxing's three 154-pound champions. The undefeated Hurd has edged Erislandy Lara, whom he dropped in the 12th round and beat by split decision 13 months ago in their title unification fight. He also became the first fighter to stop ex-champion Austin Trout and defeated Tony Harrison, who since has upset Jermell Charlo, by technical knockout.

Lara, Trout, Williams, got to give props where they are due in that he's fighting people who can fight back (unlike some others).

          Cotto
          Canelo
          Charlo
          Hurd
          Charlo

Beat Cotto and all the rest were pretty close.

He threw everything but the kitchen sink and still couldn't faze Hurd....

He would be rated higher if he didn't take so many punches. Most people figure he is just getting by on size just like Rios was at 135. What happened when he moved up.

I've brought this up many times before,Hurd is definitely one of the top p4p. His only problem has been that he doesn't seem to look great in close fights against the best possible opponents (mad props 2 him for facing the best & ducking nobody),I rate his resume above Crawfords or even loma but he gets so shtted on that I stopped bothering because of trolls flaming me over it.

I had to rethink my entire p4p when I actually thought about who hes fought.

                My p4p

#1 "the red headed mexican"(boxin writers favorite way to describe him despite them eternally calling 3g "mw king/mw ruler/etc." 4 having 3 literally gifted belts & canelo now having 4 & lineal gggs never held.)

                #2 Fury

                #3 Usyk

                #4 Hurd

                #5 AJ

                # 6-8 Spence/Crawford/Loma in any order

#9 Estrada (he just destroyed the man who destroyed THE man)

                # 10 Wilder (he looked bad vs Fury but still showed why hes still THE champ to beat at HW if AJ/Fury wanna be considered atg's)

#11 Mikey(still THE man to beat below 140 even though he disappointed me because hes still deludedly clings to false dreams of becoming a ww champ that'll NEVER happen)

No you are not p4p fighting bums like Welborn. Big up your game Hurd and stop crying about injury. I like Hurd but I don't like selling bs to fans.

The only drawback in Hurd's game is his defense. He gets hit way too easily and often but other than that he is a very strong and big kid; Who typically grinds and wears his opponents down the longer the fight goes. He is not in the top five pound for pound list however.
